LOL at percentages and ratios of "talent to heart" needed. In what unit does one measure "heart?" Or talent, for that matter?

Bradshaws?

"Reveiz has a slower than desirable 40 time, but clocks in with a mind-blowing .873 Bradshaws."

Oh jeez, that's epic.

Maybe I should develop a system. I can measure talent in "Walter Paytons," and heart in "Rudys", and then average them together. Then, I can rank values into categories noted by a celestial body. Since "5" and "stars" are taken, I will settle for "7" and "quasars."

This was well before him. They have been up and down in that conference well before Dooley was there. What Dooley did there is by no means a bad or good mark on his coaching, IMO. I don't think Nick Saban could win there consistently, IMO.
So, you're saying Gary Crowton is a better coach than Nick Saban? Interesting.

I could insert most big name coaches in there and it would be true. I don't think there has been a coach win there consistently since the 70s. They were in the Southland conference at the time.

The people I have talked to that know football think Dooley will do a very good job.
I will go with their opinion every time over the XBOX experts.

Do you actually read what people say or just decide to provoke arguments and display your stupidity?
He said Nick Saban couldn't win consistently at a place where Gary Crowton did exactly that. What type of remedial breakdown of that statement do you need?

No, I'm not a mindless sheep who cheers like a trained seal at whatever the UTAD puts before me. I actually have standards.

No, what you have (which goes back to the beginning of our argument) is "psychic ability". He has a MAJOR upgrade when it comes to a staff and top players from around the country look at this university, true or not true? You don't know anymore than the rest of us, so sit back and stfu or go root for your boy Kiffin.

Oooh remedial nice word. He was saying that La Tech is so obscure that it would be difficult to get the players necessary to do there what Saban did in Bama. Sorry I didn't just blindly accept what you say as truth.

... And if your "standards" aren't met, or even taken into account by the UTAD, you become a critic and disregard the fact that you are indeed a FAN.

What does your whining and negativity contribute to this site? Show a little support man :good!:

To be fair, when Crowton was doing that, Fulmer and Spurrier were dominating the SEC and Florida St. was a perennial powerhouse. I think the college football world has gotten a lot more competitive and "big time" since then.

Compared to his competition at this level, it's no upgrade. Florida, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn will still have better players and, in the case of the first two, vastly superior coaching staffs.

Gary Crowton went 21-13. Not exactly Earth shattering. He only had one decent year, where he had 1 more win than Dooley did his second year at La. Tech. He went 6-5, 9-2, 6-6 during his time there.

Some of us have played football, but none of us have ever been college football coaches. People speak on here like they are experts on a subject but it is just opinion based upon limited knowledge.

I played highschool football and like to give my opinion based upon what I know and what I see on TV, but I am no expert.
Again, I base my opinion on Dooley by what I have heard other football coaches say about him.

Yeah, Utah State and San Jose State are really getting after it now.
