It means Saban and his agent are leveraging Alabama for a better deal.Dan Wolken ?@DanWolken 1m
Asked about the status of extension talks, Battle repeated: "The Sugar Bowl is where his efforts are and that's where mine are."

Alabama AD Bill Battle: "There are segments of our industry that require market-driven salaries" Hmm, wonder what he might mean by that

It was just reworked in March.
 Hook'em
And he knows that he can get more money out of this extension by saying, "The Texas job is open, and I might consider listening to their offer unless you rework this deal for more money/years/etc."
I think I believe this whole thing a little more than I did yesterday. Still think it only has about a 5% chance of happening.
I agree. I think this is more about Saban re negotiating with Bama than it is him actually leaving for Texas. Saban's not going anywhere!

I don't buy that.
It doesn't matter what job is available, Saban always has massive leverage over Bama. Those boosters haven't forgotten just how bad it was for UA after post-Stallings/pre-Saban. They would bend over backwards, run thru fire and eat their first born if Lord SaBear told them to.
I'm not buying the notion that Saban is leveraging this agaist Alabama for more $. I will buy that the hold up here is that Mack wants to force tu to fire him. I'd argue that unless he gets a position within the program as an "advisor" or something, he'll stick to his guns and force them to do so.
If they could figure out what position to give him, this would all be over and he'd step down with dignity. Instead, he's strongarming them in to paying him more when they are faced with canning him outright.
