2. While I love the'98 team dearly, comparing that team to the 2001 Miami team is like comparing Jennifer Anniston to Angelina Jolie. Very good doesn't compare to truly great.

Given that I live about a 10 minute drive from the campus of the "U", I'll venture that I have considerably more insight into the Miami program than you do.
I'll address your contention with some quick bullet points:
1. Jimmy Johnson hande. Dennid Erickson a Ferrari. By the end of his tenure, he had turned it into a wrecked Camaro.
2. There isn't a Miami fan alive who wouldn't trade Coker for Butch right now. Everyone knows that Coker simply did the same thing as Erickson. He simply had to stay out of the way in '01 and '02. Left to his own devices, he has now run the program into the ditch.
3. If you don't realize there's a difference between what JJ handed Dennis the Drunk and what Butch inherited, you're suffering from a cognitive disconnect with reality.

They knew they would win as long as the new coach stayed the hell out of the way. Left to the fruits of his own labor, Coker has led Miami to the brink of mediocrity.

If you overlook the two Super Bowl rings he won with the Cowboys and the one he snagged with the Canes in '87. Keep propping TCHFCATUTK up. Given it's becoming obvious that the QB position in particular, and the offense in general, is going to be a disaster area again, you won't have many more chances to carry water for him.

Who recruited the UT players that were in the '06 draft? Great job by a coach who's been on the job for over a decade. Good to see he's realy raking in and developing the talent.

Quick question. How many looses would it take this year for CPF to resign. I beleive that he could go winless this year and he wouldnt get fired but I beleive that if he looses 4 or more games this year he will resign.

Washington went 11-1 in 2000 and won the rose bowl. They by the way lost to one loss oregon.i think you knew that but only reniforcing your point.

i also remember watching miami in 2001, and was thinking, 'is the coach doing anything or are the players just this d**n good?'

my point was confirmed when as some of the top draft picks graduated, cokers team grew consistently worse over the last few years.
