Making a Murderer (w/ Spoilers)

Finished episode 9. I really tried to view this with an open mind especially after the blatant false imprisonment..but I just cannot find any sympathy for these Wisconsin goobers outside of the Avery parents/grandparents. I feel bad for them. But the rest of them? Its like a circus freakshow had sex with a Jerry Springer show that had sex with a field of turnips and produced people..

Guy I know (he's on VN, actually) is from Milwaukee; says Manitowoc has a rep for being the snooty/uppity area - kinda like Farragut to Knoxville or John's Creek to Atlanta.

If Manitowoc is uppity/snooty, I'd hate to see what lives out in the backwoods.

Manitowoc looks like a dump.. All of footage looks like there are no new buildings in the town including dentist offices

Yep... I have no doubt that one of them committed the murder. I'm just not sure it was Steve Avery; between the moving of the bones, happening to find the car so quickly, the keys mysteriously showing up the cop running the tag on the car 2 days before it was actually found etc etc etc.

I feel bad for this kid. He's borderline mentally retarded and appeared to not have a grip on reality.

He's easily the saddest character in all of this. He never had a chance and his defense team should never practice law again.

The saddest character in all this? Really? The saddest character in all this is Teresa Halbach's mother.

A 16 year old kid getting railroaded by the system and spending the rest of his life behind bars is very sad. You can't atone for one death by effectively taking an innocent person's life.

You probably think OJ was framed too.

No, OJ was guilty as sin.....but he he walked because of reasonable doubt. Avery's prosecutors made OJ's prosecutors look like freaking Perry Mason. There was enough reasonable doubt for a dozen trials. Is Avery guilty....probably, but was he "proven beyond a reasonable doubt"....no.

If you don't think Brendan Dassey then you're crazy. The only thing that they had one BD was a coherced confession that in no way could have happened because Holbach's DNA would be all over the place in Avery's mobile home.

I guarantee the investigators didn't tell Dassey his rights and Dassey didn't realize he had the right to remain silent.

As Ron White says: "I had the right to remain silent. I just didn't have the ability"

When I watched the documentary my first reaction was to have some sympathy for him. Not because I think he wasn't involved but because he had poor representation from his attorneys who I think committed malpractice. However, I do think he raped her and helped to dispose of her body. I also think he non fatally cut her throat. But, once I read his confession, over 150 pages, I don't really have any sympathy for him. The documentary left a lot of his involvement out, very selective. His confession is available to read on the web.

A person I do feel sorry for is Dassey's 14 year old cousin. She was the one who told the police about Brendan's confession to her that he had helped his uncle murder Teresa Halbach and dispose of her body. She must have had considerable pressure from her grand parents to recant her statements.

Wow. Guess Wisconsin is just one huge sh@!hole.

Are you talking about the confession where they killed her in the trailer or in the garage? Which one is it? Since there was no evidence of it happening at either place. What confession are you talking about?

Come on now, be honest.

A smart Italian court would be able to spot Dassey's false confession a mile away. :)
