Malzahn (not) to be named Vandy coach

Like Cutcliffe did in '98? If he is accepting a HC position, I would be shocked if he didn't go immediately. I don't understand spending another month with one team while the team you are taking over is without a coach.

Mullen and Pelini stayed.

that's best case scenario but i don't think Chizik is that dumb.

Maybe he can give Gene a big chest bump and tell him how great he is as he twirls a towel and slaps him on the butt. That should get him some consideration.

Might take him 5 or 6. Should've thought that one out a little more.

If we're being honest here, I think that's about when Dooley leaves UT.

If Dooley's here in six years than he's doing a good job. Turning Vandy into an 8 win program isn't happening either.

To clarify, I said 7 or 8. Vandy was a field goal away (in two games) from being an 8 win team two years ago. Just saying.

The Dooley point isn't necessarily true. He could turn in some decent seasons, have a couple of bad ones, and be shown the door.

Vandy will never ever be able to bring in the players to be even consistently mediocre.

They can and will if they spend the money on coaching and facilities. Stanford got good coaching and they have a very good team. Vanderbilt would probably even be happy with a level of success similar to Northwestern.

If Cam Newton is going pro and I think he will, then this may be in a rush to get that 3 million per season! Don't forget the money! Gibert Arenas said this about some of his broke friends in the NBA that passed on what the thought were menial contracts looking for 100 million dollar paydays, "When someone offers you millions of dollars you ask where do I sign?"
