Manziel Being Investigated

He seems as dumb as a bag of hammers but I really think he was set up by either some Bama lover or Texas spite monger.

So a Bama or a Texas fan set him up with autograph sharks in Miami and New Haven? C'mon. Whether the NCAA benches him or not, Johnny did exactly what he wanted to do. No one needed to set Johnny up to do a thing.

You may be right but I still think ( I do control my own mind) it was a Bama or Texas business/booster shark that set him up. It doesn't change what I also said in my post, JM is as dumb as a bag of hammers. Otherwise, he wouldn't have done this. So you think your way, I'll think mine. Peace out.

yes. the real difference here is that- unlike at bama or texas- a&m provided no assistance to manziel in keeping things under wraps

Thinking your way requires abandoning all logic in favor of conspiracy theories. But you're totally free to be ridiculous.

IMO, Texas has more to gain than 'bama in bringing down the Johnny. Bama and Tamu have no history other than Tamu throwing a dart and drawing a bullseye around it's landing zone. Aint gonna happen this year. Texas on the other hand, has f**cked itself into playing second fiddle to TAMU. A&M is becoming the big dog in Texas - in both recruiting and exposure. The Horn faithful are very upset. They have always treated A&M as the underling (kind of the same way we treat Vandy, bama vs the barn, etc.). If any entity has a reason to bring down the Johnny, Texas has many.

I'm not at all sure that I buy the Manziel family mantra on this point. Confidence is one thing, but the more protracted this overall pattern of behavior becomes, the more it appears that Johnny has a profound sense of entitlement, an untouchable, I'm-above-the-law attitude, and a reckless disregard for responsibility to himself, his coaches, his teammates and his school. I realize that winning solves a heck of a lot of problems but those qualities are still, for all practical purposes, radioactive kryptonite to team chemistry. Whether he likes it or not, Manziel needs to get it through his thick skull that everything that a Heisman Trophy winner does, thinks or says is subject to intense media scrutiny.

(1) Where there's smoke...

(2) The chances of the NCAA getting this one right, and fair, are right up there with the odds that Mark Sanchez will lead the Jets to the Super Bowl.

(3) You don't retain the same law firm that handled the Cam Newton saga because you know, or believe, that Manziel didn't break the rules.

(4) Manziel's chances in the NFL are right up there with Sanchez in #2 above.

(5) ESPN hype gave us Cam Newton, Manti Teo, Alabama, and now Johnny Football. 3 of those 4 have turned out to be lipstick on a pig.

(6) Ryan Leaf, wherever he is, is laughing right now.

Johnny's daddy is already on record saying that TAMU is/has not done enough to protect his son. You may be on to something here.:hi:

I can't help but believe that this is NOT what the NCAA wants right now. They are in the midst of a multimillion dollar lawsuit for selling players likeness and jerseys using them as pawns while they reap millions. So, a kid sells his signature, something that any other kid in college could do (albeit, it would be worth crap), and he gets taken to the cleaners while they rake in the cash. Yes, he is breaking the current rules if true. However, I do not agree with the NCAA making ridiculous profits off of these kids.

You're both wrong. Kunta Kinte (AKA: Toby) wasn't an indentured servant. He was a slave. Indentured servants are contracted for a specific period of time and then are free. Usually, in
dentured servants or a family member owe some well to do person money andmust5 work off the debt. A slave on the other hand is purchased property who technically is never legally free unless granted a writ of such by an owner.

Scholarship athletes only marginally fit the indentured servant model. I say marginally because athletes have far greater leeway to violate or disengage from the stipulations than indentured servants. However, technically, scholarship athletes are peddlers. In a similar sense, they're mercenaries. People selling a desired combat skill to a willing purchaser for social status advancement or payment in some form.

Like I said call me Kunta or Toby or whatever. I'll take the perks of that scholarship and move on. The rest of that Gobbligook discussion I'll leave for those who don't have that scholarship or play organized sports on a college level yet choose to debate it because they believe they know whats best for the rest of us.

this is the point. daddy is mad that lil johnny didn't go somewhere his son's 'talents' would be more appreciated.

If the video shows what Schad claims it shows, a paper trail won't be needed. Manziel essentially makes it known that his John Hancock is for sale.

The question is whether or not the NCAA ever sees this thing and wants to do anything about it.

It takes two to tango. It really sounds like manziel has an unreal ego and is a moron. I'm starting to think that this guy will not play another game in college.

I agree that he has an unreal ego, but if the NCAA can't get it, it doesn't matter. The fact the guy is looking at a Felony for recording it at all makes me believe its not gonna end like we think. I'll wager the NCAA doesn't find "concrete" evidence to get him.

We are talking about a place that let Cam newton walk and Miami still remains unpunished after all. And if it went to court? OJ, Casey Anthony, etc. All cases the media decided and didn't have sufficient evidence to do so in court.

So he has a video showing he signed balls. If it doesn't have him taking money he can say he did it for free or asked for money to be donated to charity. Believable? Eh, not really. But it's innocent until proven guilty, even the NCAA claims that, and a video doesn't prove he took money, it proves he signed balls.

Libs, you gotta love em! They can't resist telling people what to do and think ... :loco:

For ****'s sake. Not everything in life is about politics. Matter of fact very little in life is about politics.

But this is the issue with politics in general. It's all us vs. them, left vs. right, red vs. blue. There is no room for compromise because that is considered a loss and a loss is a let down to the lobbyist. However, the real losers are the American citizens because congress can't get a damn thing done.

The NCAA is about to get its doors blown off. That collector has signed stuff from Clowney, Bridgewater, and a few others.

Change is coming.
