Martin wants an extension and am sure a raise (rumor)

Just because someone else is overpaid doesn't mean his package isn't fair.

It's called market value, whether you agree or not.

And here's the thing, he likely won't be getting a raise since he's apparently happy with his contract, would just like an extension if possible...however after they're dancing next year you can guarantee he's getting a raise and will be getting paid much more competitively in the SEC, so brave yourself.

If you understand markets then you also understand that markets make corrections all the time. In the real world. Either way, it doesn't affect me personally so there is no need to "brace" myself.
Not sure if Kennedy has a new deal, but CCM was making more than the tourney winner.

No he wasn't but don't let facts get in the way.

Kennedy was also in his 7th season and would be unemployed today had they not won the SEC tourney. Kennedy was hired that long ago and hasn't done much to warrant a raise.

How the hell is what I said wrong?

I said Martin wasn't getting paid more than Kennedy, he's not...how much more black and white can that be? Holy $hit

At the time neither apparently knew what the score was and posted anyway. You could have posted what the actual salaries were if you knew them and instead gave a blanket "no". Sad to say, but, you seem to get more emotional as martins tenure goes along?

I knew what both made and knew it was the same, nobody asked what they made, the OP simply said Martin made more than Kennedy which was WRONG...how much clearer can I make this?

Honestly I don't think CCM deserves a raise. If he leaves for a better offer, no big deal IMO. Coaching that consistently put teams in the tourney and get players to play at there best deserve raises. The NIT means crap to me, personally after hearing CCM whine about not getting a NCAA bid, he should have declined the NIT offer. Piss poor attitude and ill prepared team that got there butt handed to em at home.

So he is making the same as the SEC tourney winner who led his team to the most wins in school history. How does that change the point? It doesn't. Strain a gnat to swallow a camel. Just another opening to antagonize. Starting to wonder if a poster here is CCM or a relative, since they take any comment that remotely questions CCM personally.

Why do people think that if someone supports their coach then they must be related? I have been on a Vol board for about 13 years now and have seen this so much. Gosh forbid someone support their coach and school. Just makes me really question if some really are fans. Just want to argue to argue.

I think you may have something there.

Thats not the issue. Read the last part. I have no problem with you or anyone "supporting" coach.
And yes, i like to argue.

I know you weren't referring to me, but I don't think anyone takes anything personally. What they take offense to is stupidity for suggesting that a coach that has placed 2nd in conference one year and won 20 games the next at an institution that is on probation should be fired. Unfortunately on here, some will criticize every move he makes regardless of their belief or not. I have always been of the mind to criticize when needed and praise when needed, and some simply dont do that. It is old and tiresome, and frankly I have enjoyed this board since moving from Volquest, but it has caused me to pause about continuing to get on.

I try to stay away from personal attacks but when the negativity gets so bad, then it is difficult. It is probably best just to stay away.

I have never called for his firing. I question his hiring.
And yes there are posters who take ANY criticism of CCM as a personal attack

As u point out every coin has two sides. CCM finished 2nd last year. But as I've pointed out there is a lot to temper that fact.

A simple question is "was CCM the best candidate at the time of his hiring?" No.
But, I'm open minded enough to consider that the NCAA cloud may have narrowed the viable candidates. Still that doesnt make him the right guy. Going forward i,ts easy to see that he will have every op to prove himself. He'll make the tourney and get raise and extension. No way barring complete collapse he doesnt get 5 years in that scenario. And surely we can all agree that 5 years is enuff to know exaxctly what we got.

I agree with this, and I think just about every person on this board would, whether they're pro or anti Cuonzo.

I think there are some things Cuonzo should do moving forward. For one, I think he needs to find an assistant who has the experience. Too many young guys. In fact Fancher has a better coaching resume than any of the assistants.

I also think he needs a new trainer. Not impressed with this guy, and he has very little experience. Just graduated with masters in 10. After watching the TV piece on him, I questioned his abilities as to what Bball players need in regarding training.

I agree on an assistant, he needs an experienced guy who specializes in offense, would help a lot.

As for the trainer, I've been very impressed. Not sure what we can blame him with, but I've not seen anything? Maymon and miller are the result of surgeries, nothing he had anything to do with.

He beefed Jordan McRae up enough to play 35mpg in the SEC and not miss a game, something a guy like Elston Turner can't say.
