Yes. This crazy, anti-Semitic POS came up in something I read after 10/7. He had CC permit.
Pittsburgh synagogue gunman will be sentenced to death for the nation’s deadliest antisemitic attack
Robert Bowers, the gunman who stormed a synagogue in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Jewish community and killed 11 worshippers, will be sentenced to death.apnews.com
I'm focusing on the fact that he heard voices telling him to shoot up a bowling alley. Cmon @INVOL, we all know realistically that guy shouldnt have had access to an assault weapon, or any weapon. He was known to police. This guy was military and firearms instructor. Would more training have made this guy less deadly? Are we going to disarm the military now? Sometime one needs to focus on the real problem. That's part of the problems we have now is the liberal gun grabbers focus is on something other than the real problem. More laws against law abiding citizens does nothing to stop this. In my opinion it's made it worse. Guns have been demonized by the liberal left so much, it's made it cool to have one. Also, the demonization of guns has diminished the number of people that have firearms and made the populace as a whole less "trained". When I was growing up about everyone had a basic understanding of firearms and a healthy respect for them. I frequently had one in my car as a teenager at high school, had one in my dorm room at college. Never an issue. Many of my friends that drove pickups had gun racks and had log guns in their trucks at school too.
It's not a gun problem, it's a people problem. The sooner you and your "blame the gun" crowd come to terms with that, we can start fixing the problem.
And, as a side note, the Israeli's had their guns in a government library check-out program. I wonder if their citizens wish they had something to defend themselves with on 10/07?

Any change or modification is going to be seen as an intrusion of privacy. I do think there is room at the table to make this work, in a way that leaves the Trumpers, and the Bideners, er happy.
People who drive recklessly or drunk kill a lot of people so when should we collect their vehicles? Not their license..... THEIR VEHICLES? And stop their ability to purchase a vehicle, even from a private citizen?I'm focusing on the fact that he heard voices telling him to shoot up a bowling alley. But thats better than a 10 yo little girl getting shot. Or would she be better off carrying a 9mm in her backpack?
Lafted
All that, and I still feel same way.People who drive recklessly or drunk kill a lot of people so when should we collect their vehicles? Not their license..... THEIR VEHICLES? And stop their ability to purchase a vehicle, even from a private citizen?
It's not workable, is it? Are you going to keep me from selling my car or make me wander through government loops just to sell a car? Cars kill a lot of little girls, you know.
I'm not unsympathetic. People I'd give my life willingly for and step in front of a car or bullet to save are little kids, but it's not a practical answer to "just keep the cars from all the drunks and hot rodders," nor is it practical to "just keep the guns from the reckless users."
That solution inevitably becomes the "Australia solution" where the govt essentially buys almost all the guns and makes it really hard to get one. I don't know if you've read the 2nd Amendment but.......
You feel we should try to collect the cars of reckless or drunk drivers until they "prove" they will stay sober behind the wheel or drive reasonably. And you support creating some kind of government database that needs to be checked concerning the buyer's "proof of safe driving" before I can privately sell my car.All that, and I still feel same way.
You don’t come across as being open to other opinions when in the same post you accuse “righties” of something.100%. This is called, listening to other people with divergent opinions (presumably).
Again, understanding that 100% of MCE wont be prevented. Action is necessary to mitigate as many as possible.
The righties in this state want to hand CWP to any individual who can click a mouse. That is a recipe for disaster. Any firearms owner worth their salt, respects the gun, and, agrees that proper training is necessary. Further, its the people who lack knowledge and training who scare me the most.
Eh, I was just going off one of the color photos of him at the bowling alley. Side note, this Nigerian Prince emailed me this morning and promised me a bunch of money to help him with a financial dilemma. All I have to do is let him deposit money into my bank account.I wouldn't rely on dave for accurate firsthand info, but then again you and I are not the same.
1. As long as you are willing to treat other rights the same way. he loses his guns, he loses his free speech, he loses his right to vote, etc etc etc. if he isn't mentally fit, he isn't mentally fit.We should have very strict laws banning anyone with mental-health issues from owning or buying a gun. People receiving mental-health treatment should be put on a register preventing them from gun purchases--and any guns that they have should be confiscated. It would apply to anyone who has spent time in a mental-health facility or is on serious mental-health medication--meaning drugs beyond just the standard anti-depressants/anxiety drugs that millions of Americans take. America's gun culture is insane, insanely stupid, and insanely embarrassing. It's funny that America has long been considered an "advanced nation." We're a backward nation, mostly, because we have a lot of rubes and politicians representing rubes.
The advanced part of America is the top 20 percent. Then there's another 15-20 percent of sensible middle-class people with an education. And then the other 60 percent are uneducated idiots, many of whom like to play with guns.
Wasn't this guy just another "responsible gun owner" until yesterday? Ha, ha, ha.
Maybe if someone there had been armed they could have stopped it before he was able to shoot so many and move to a second location and shoot more?I'm focusing on the fact that he heard voices telling him to shoot up a bowling alley. Again, your focus is on the tool he used rather than the person responsible for the atrocity. Until you and your gun grabbing friends stop with the simple mindedness nothing will change. Here we have an ex-military, firearms instructor, that's currently in the reserves, do this. What if a policeman had done this? Would you want to take Jimmy Joe's gun in Topeka, KS because a cop in Escambia, NY had mental breakdown?
They may actually be to blame for making him go all whack job.And this whole incident should rest clearly on the military. Army Reserve. Registered firearm instructor.
Sent to loony house for 2 weeks back in summer by military for treatment. DID NOT remove weapons from his possession nor access to weapons for said mental health treatment. Goes wacko and kills many innocent people.
It's easy to say these inicidents can be avoided, shen alot of times it's not so easy. But, this time it's a severe oversight of a controllable situation that led to tragedy. Military protocol should have had all his accesses suspended and his firearms cleared out while he was in therapy.
How naive and dense can you be. Focus on the person? How to you propose that we "focus" on the massive number of maladjusted, depressed, angry, alienated, mentally disturbed people in this country? What is your proposal? You have no answer because there is no answer or solution. There are huge numbers of mentally unbalanced people in America (many on this board), and the vast majority aren't even diagnosed as having a problem much less getting treatment of some kind. Most health-insurance police provide very limited coverage of mental health counseling or more. The Las Vegas shooter had no known mental problems--but clearly had them. Therefore, it MIGHT be a good idea to eliminate all the high-powered guns/rifles in America that these people use to kill innocent people. Most sensible people think that a very good idea--except the rubes who have so little going on in their lives that playing with guns and pretending to be the neighborhood/family sheriff is important to them.
