Maybe the problem isn't with Jay Graham, Tee Martin, Vonn Bell...

Yeah, nothing happens in February that you could judge a college coaching staff on, right?

not when they have barely a month to get anything done and are forced to undo all the work of the previous staff at the same time

Don't cop out with a negation-by-generality. Give us a list of things CBJ should be doing right now, and how he's failing. I'll be intently waiting.

Once again, if you feel like we should all reserve judgement until after the first game, then why are you on this board?

The opportunity to dissect irrational drivel. I promise, if your like wasn't here, I would be bored.

In my mind, we've seen Butch Jones do two very important things worth evaluating - hire a staff and sign a recruiting class. Neither were very impressive.

So, you're foregoing further analysis based on two very subjective criteria, with your expectations as the defining factors for success. You didn't consider extenuating circumstances, and you have no detailed knowledge of what went into the final results.

Awesome!

Doesn't mean we should call for his head, but it makes more sense to judge him on staff moves and recruiting signings than to take some quotes he made at a press conference or a breakfast and proclaim how great you feel about this hire (which is what most of this board does).

No. It doesn't. It's no more rational than making a snap positive judgment. You're making an irrational, emotional response, just as much as the people you're railing against.

Problem is higher up than Butch.

IF theres a problem and JG and TM were not honest about it. But I agree, the problem may be above CBJ. I have no problem with Hart (Im ducking!), he's still cleaning up messes left to him. Could be though, that the creator of some of the messes was at least in part, Cheek. Debt issues, dorm issues, athletics in general not being any kind of priority, etc. Sound pretty administrative...I hope the board of directors is proceeding with wisdom and is not a part of the problem.

with our schedule thats not going to do us very well.

some people are able to see more and aren't as shallow when making judgements.
If we play well, and win a game or 2 we shouldn't, and the locker room has leaders, you will see results in recruiting, regardless of your opinion on the matter.

You can only guess if they are going to be good or not, only the results on the field will answer that question, they don't become losers just because you have never heard their names.

Again, the results will tell us if the staff is good or not, not their names.

i won't disagree with that, but we will have to win some games. something i'm not to confident about

just waiting to be amazed by a guy that is talking alot and no results.

Well if you guys can hold your horses for 6 months we'll see the results of his talk. It may be a buncha wins, it may be a bunch losses, may be somewhere in between. But damn can we not be so negative for once? What results can he possibly bring to the table right now during the OFF-SEASON? I will be among the first to call for this guy's head if I see the same craptastic effort outta the players that Dooley fielded, but until then this man is THE coach at UT and I'm not going to call for his firing until we lose a buncha games in poor fashion.

fall time this year. he will find out this isn't the big east. he couldn't even keep it close against dools that says alot. i really just don't expect alot out of jones, reminds me alot of the guy we just fired. talks alot little result. best staff garbage, recruiting surprises garbage, now he is going to change the attitude of UT football. i guess we will see but i will wager against it. he just let our second best recruiter walk and i'm pretty sure he will hire a scrub to replace him.

So, now you're sound analysis is based on perceived resemblances, and uninformed prognostication.

You, sir, are an intellectual wrecking ball. I tip my hat to you.

it's obvious you have no clue about what's going on in recruiting. But hey, why start now

i look at recruiting from time to time and jones seems to be doing well with instate kids, but he will have to land some big names outside the state as well to keep up with the rest of the sec.

seriously man, I don't know that we will either. But what the hell is the point with thinking the worst in every damn situation that arises? When we are 2 months short of our first practices under the new HC?

Damn that must be miserable to walk around with all the time.

Wow, my cousin's right...we have some of the worst fans in the country that will never be satisfied. Seriously, I know Graham leaving hurts, but we can get someone else. It isn't the end of the world. I'm so annoyed with this fanbase...

You're not waiting on anything. That's the problem. You've been pretty liberal with your premature criticisms and predictions. No?

why not i've had to listen to people say how great dooley was for the last 3 years. knew he wasn't the guy. was alittle higher on jones till i saw his staff then well just don't see the upside.

jones has been less than impressive so far.

I bet you were one of many that does not think BJ is impressive or can get the job done, are the same ones that thought Dooley was impressive and the man to get the job done here Tn.
Tell everybody who Tn should of hired.
If BJ turns this around you same people will be singing his praises.

i still don't recall people talking about how great Dooley was. If people dont complain all the time, it doesn't necessarily mean we are pleased. Some people realize getting upset does absolutely nothing as far as the final outcome, who is the coach, or whatever.

So, their "perceived failure" is an excuse for you to commit the same mistakes? Awesome. I'm going to add this to my list of ways to perform my job.

"Well, you see, here's how we fix that problem where Server X is sending bad data to all clients. We decommissioned Server X, but here's the kicker! We recode Server Y to ALSO send bad data to its clients!"

You want that job? Seriously. You're teaching me so much here.

i said dooley would be fired in 2 years, he went 3. if jones proves me wrong i will admit i was wrong, still don't change the fact that i'm not encouraged though. he should have done everything he could to keep jay. i won't be like the dooley lovers who never ate crow.
