CNN+ shutdown leaves Axed Staffers ‘aghast and furious’

The shocking announcement that CNN+ would be shutting down operations less than a month after it launched has left out-of-work staffers “aghast and furious” over the company’s handling of what sources inside the network call “an absolute debacle.”

Chris Licht, CNN’s newly installed CEO, who replaced the disgraced Jeff Zucker, broke the news to staffers at a noon meeting Thursday in New York.

Network insiders were horrified to learn that all junior staffers at the streaming service were let go. The roughly 300 staffers were offered six months’ severance as well as first dibs on job opportunities within CNN, according to sources.

Staffers were angry that junior employees were let go while big-ticket acquisitions will likely be reassigned within the company.

CNN+’s big-ticket acquisitions, meanwhile — including former Fox News star Chris Wallace and ex-MSNBC reporter Kasie Hunt — are expected to be reassigned to the cable news mothership or to other platforms within the Warner Bros. Discovery media empire.

Sources told The Post that CNN “overspent on talent” by giving Wallace $9 million per year while Hunt was lured away from MSNBC with an annual paycheck of $1 million.

With CNN+ shutting down, the prevailing sentiment in the newsroom is that Wallace will likely take over Chris Cuomo’s old 9 p.m. time slot. The Post has reached out to Wallace seeking comment.

“Many people left their stable jobs at CNN to go to CNN+ and then they pull it right after launch?” the source said.

“Everyone is aghast and furious.”

Hunt left MSNBC and joined CNN+ for a reported salary of $1 million per year.

Employees are also nursing resentment toward their new boss, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav, because he recently led workers to believe that he would be giving CNN+ a chance, according to the insider.

Report: Warner Bros. Discovery to Cancel CNN+ Just 23 Days After Launch Announcement

cnnplusdone1-640x480.jpg

Warner Bros. Discovery will reportedly shut down CNN+ 23 days after announcing the streaming service.

Warner Bros. Discovery will nix the streaming service on April 30 just after CNN after having fewer than 10,000 daily views, according to reports. The move comes after CNN was acquired by the parent company, Variety reported:
Not really surprised. Only people with a certain type of personality watch cable news religiously, and those people are typically conservatives who love some Fox News. The typcial CNN viewer is just tuning in when something bad happens or some event has occurred that interests them. Thats why viewership dropped when Trump lost the election. When he was in office people were tuning in to see what stupid **** he said every day.

That is deep insight bro.

Any time there is a merger and there are employees indifferent to new management they will be the first to be gone.

When the greatest of all time, Tom Brady, was with New England Patriots, it didn't matter who the other pieces were. It was plug and play, and Super Bowl contender. You must not much NFL football.
Yeah, I know, but that was going on 3 years ago, and they haven't really been relevant since.

CNN Doubling Down on Losers with CNN+ Collapse, Interviewing Keith Olbermann, Brian Williams

Even in the face of the massive failure of CNN+ shutting down after only a month in operation, parent outlet CNN is doubling down on failure by interviewing Keith Olbermann and Brian Williams for possible new cable gigs.

CNN launched its streaming service just before the arrival of the cable news outlet’s new bosses, who came in to take over management after the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger.

The new bosses seem to have moved quickly to end the disastrous rollout of the streaming service. But shuttering CNN+ after wasting $300 million left them with a pile of anchors without gigs and only one spot to fill.

According to Yahoo News, disgraced former network news anchor Brian Williams and repeatedly fired “sports” commentator Keith Olbermann have also spoken to CNN about coming on as Cuomo’s replacement.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel. With these options, Chris Wallace should be choice A, B, and C.

Reid is a blatant racist. It tells you where we are as a country when blatant racists get a platform on television. Her entire show is an echo chamber.

To give an example of how delusional she is, she has the moniker Pro-Democracy in her twitter name. That is a joke and I believe shows she is self-conscious. Not only is it laughable, we're not even a democracy. She proves even the simple minded can get into good universities.
