Megan Rapinoe & The US Soccer Team

What's effing strategic about it? Let's not get three strikes guys!

The only interaction between the two teams at all is the pitcher and batter. Pretty much everything else is team mate passing to team mate.

Snooze
Defensive shifts, base running, how to face certain batters, there's more to the game than meets the eye. I'm sure the same could be said of soccer, but I never could get into the game.

Like I said nothing but the pitcher and the batter.

None of those shifts or.base running changes what you are doing in the game. If you have a chance to run you dont pass it up. You dont see extra guys in the grass vs the dirt. If there is a guy on base that defensive player moves in a bit. Not strategic shifts. Simply just responding to the circumstances.

lol Okay. You're not a baseball fan. How you respond to a circumstance is known as strategy.

It's hard to understand how complicated some of this stuff is if you don't know the sport and/or haven't played before. You won't have a full appreciation for perfectly executed offside traps unless you played. Just like people who don't know baseball won't understand that the pitcher set up the batter for a 3rd strike swinging on a changeup.

Have you read Moneyball? One of the things Lewis talks about is how some defensive players are way overrated because they flash good glove, but other players get you more outs because they know where to position themselves before the play. There is a lot of defensive strategy going on in baseball.

Happens when you hate on anything.

I hate golf and baseball and think they are for the crippled rejects of other sports. Football players are those too slow and fat to play soccer or basketball.

Talk bad about Memphis bbq and people get plenty defensive. Talk about politics and people get defensive.
Pro basketball sucks donkey balls.

Now let the runners keep their bats and allow defenders to body check a runner or even get in the way of the run and you suddenly have a game.

You have shifts, steals, hit and runs and even the strategy between the pitcher/catcher in what pitches to throw and location is interesting. I love the small ball way more than the long ball game.

and ends up 1-0 with about 5 shots on goal.

Lack of scoring has nothing to do with my distaste. Hell I love a good defensive battle on the gridiron, a 3-0 game can be just as exciting as a high scoring one to me.

If you simply said "I don't like soccer" the conversation wouldn't really go anywhere, but you've been talking about how much you don't like soccer for 2 pages, begging for mockery.
And if you simply didn't say anything (not in your DNA) he wouldn't have said it but once.

Watching young guys be fanboys because it's the in thing is more entertaining.
I started playing it in 1980 so I'm not really worried about the in thing. Seems you are by constantly trying to one up each other about how much you don't like it. We got it 3 pages ago

It's really not about the score with me either....I can watch a hockey game that ends 1-0 but they will have 60+ shots on goal that travel 100+ mph. If you think chasing a soccer ball requires stamina, try chasing a hockey puck for more than 60 seconds. The only sport I know more grueling is wrestling. It is without a doubt the most grueling 6 minutes that I ever spent in my life.

If you can do 2 rushes up and down the ice, you are in serious physical condition. Second to none.

And hockey is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

The only reason this thread exists is due to an outspoken female athlete who has an "alternative lifestyle" and hates President Trump. So...female...gay...hates Trump. There's only about a billion of them in San Fran, Austin, and Portland. This one just happens to have some athletic skills. That, I agree, does set her apart from her peers.

Oh, and she wants to be paid like the men. Fine, put her on the pitch with Man U and let's see how she does. Equal pay, equal level of play.

Yet another example of how less than 1% of 1% of the general population is commanding the headlines these days. The Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves at what we have done with the beautiful nation they created.

Damn shame...

I'll actually be at the 901FC game tomorrow night with the supporters club singing profanities about how much we hate Nashville. Good times will be had by all. Screenshot_20190716-211029_Instagram.jpg
