Yeah, you can read between the lines and guess she was talking about politics, and I think that's very likely, but what about it was toxic? Was she mistreated because she stood? There is a big difference between "I was mistreated" and "People put politics first." One is toxic. The other is not.

I'm pretty sure if she actually got bullied, she would say something specific. She probably just felt like an outsider and had nothing specific to point to.

2. I think Carli knows she's not going to win the PR battle if she called out specific players, especially Rapinoe. ESPN and most of the media would paint Lloyd in a very unfavorable light. Solo is a pariah largely for doing that ( to be fair, Hope has her issues). That could be why you see the vagueness as well.

By the time police arrived on the scene, the warrant - obtained by CBS 17 - says, a responding officer could smell alcohol on her breath.

The warrant claims Solo refused a field sobriety test, and her blood was drawn instead.

Solo was then arrested on DWI, resisting arrest and misdemeanor child abuse charges.

While prepping for the London Olympics the following year, Solo developed a reputation as a partier, later admitting in 2012 that she was actually drunk during an interview on NBC's Today Show four years earlier following her first gold medal win.

Podcast host Megyn Kelly lashed out at the US Women's soccer team on Monday for standing silent and motionless as the National Anthem played before their World Cup opener.

Before thrashing Vietnam, 3-0 on Friday, six of 11 starting players opted against placing their hands over their hearts, instead keeping their arms at their sides or behind their backs.

Five others did put their hands on their hearts, including three — Julie Ertz, Alyssa Naeher and Lindsey Horan — who also sang the words to the national anthem.

The Vietnamese women, on the other hand, were all seen singing their anthem in full voice with their hands on their chests.

Kelly said the team's actions proved that the women 'hate' their country.

'I really do believe their version of what a feminist is, what it means to be an empowered woman, at least as an American woman, means you need to hate your country. It means to go out on the national stage and embarrass yourself and your country by not singing the national anthem,' Kelly began.

Kelly lay much of the blame at two-time World Cup Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Megan Rapinoe.

Rapinoe, the former team captain, has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ rights, pay equity and the Black Lives Matter movement in recent years. She recently announced that she will retire following the 2023 tournament.

'It was too much of an effort [for them] to place their hand over their heart, or God forbid, sing… And by the way, Megan Rapinoe, too. She's on the team. She announced her retirement….She said she'll never stand again for the national anthem, this [team behavior] is clearly, I think, as a result of her influence, and it's disgusting.'

Kelly continued to bash Rapinoe, who has played for the national team since 2006.

My initial thought was at least they stood, but then I thought about it. Whenever I'm at a sporting event, at some point the sound of the national anthem starts to roar through my veins even when I'm calm and halfway into the song I'm singing it. If these athletes were about to get on the field and they stood there like statues as the anthem played then I think Megan Kelly has a good point that there is a level of disdain or embarrassment for their country.

Which begs the question why play for USA? They want that money.. The neo-liberal education camp at work.

I guess I just don't understand repping your country if you are so mad about your country you won't respect the anthem. I don't see any other team do this for their anthems and there are plenty of countries that have far worse atrocities than we do. It's a dumb look if you ask me and looks very childish, like someone who doesn't appreciate what they have which is a very immature mental attitude. Have any of them done this? My complaints about America are predominantly for the sake of others and I expect that's how it is for the women.

There is nothing wrong with wanting your country to be better. There is something wrong with complacency.
