CALISKING I hate to tell you but we could care less what you think will happen in your JV league, we really dont care to much about Tyreke either. How about lets talk about the best team in the state.

AAU coach "in the know" saying so about Wall. Hasn't been wrong too many times in last 6-7 years.
Keith?

Tyreke will be fine. D. Rose called Cal a week or so ago and told Cal to remember that he went though the same thing when he started, it just takes a little time, he will come around. The problem with Sallie is he needs to be tough when he is rebounding the ball. That is why Cal pulled Sallie from the last game because he made a 3 shot and then went to the other end after a player missed a shot the other player out worked Sallie for the ball and Cal told him thats not going to work here at Memphis and he was out of the game. Sallie is one hell of a player, but this isnt JC. Camp Cal starts Dec. 15th. in Jan this team should look alot better. PS...Witherspoon looks very good for a young player, he will be a good one.
On the way to the game that Cal told that story to Homer Dave, a buddy and me were wondering if Cal just made that story up for "motivation". :birgits_giggle: It's possible I guess.

And for the record, WW is fastly becoming my favorite player on the team. I agree, he will be a good one.

Actually have 9 Racquetball Championships, 12 Pom Pom Championships, and a few Cheerleading. Since the might Vols count their skeezer sports, we'll count ours.

Us "might" Vols have 6 national titles in football. Last I checked football wasn't a "skeezer" sport.

Also, Pat Summit is no "skeezer", you sir are the "skeezer".

Just in case you don't recall.

I do recall. I also know that 1 game does not a season make. That was the Vols NC game, as it has been each of the last few years. After that game, Vols played worse down the stretch, Tigers played better. End results tell the real tale of the tape.

So, I guess FT shooting does matter in the end.

They will make them when it counts. Thing is I dont guess they know when they count. Maybe Cal is not a great coach if he can not tell him team when they count so they can start making them. Ha We will make them when they count. Come on Cal I thought they were supposed to count in the tourney.

How in the world did the Vols play worse down the stretch in 06-07???

Talking about 2008. When you have top 5 team, which I believe the Vols were, and squeek through the 1st two rounds and get drilled in the Sweet 16, that is fading.

Why do you care so much about the Vols? We all know Memphis has gone further than the Vols in the tournament the past 3 yrs. We also aren't clueless that the Vols haven't made it past the sweet sixteen. I don't see how you can play off our success because we haven't lost in the NC game.

This program has turned around faster than any program in the nation and is still on top. Both teams aren't where they want to be right now and that's understandable and perfectly fine.

Get your head out of your ass and leave all your whining back in Memphis. We don't want to hear it.

*Shouldn't this thread be in the Around The NCAA forum?

On top of what exactly? Tiger program is exactly where I want it. In a rebuilding mode that will probably net a Sweet 16 finish. Not bad for rebuilding.

No one cares about Memphis except a few people who are unfortunate enough to live in that awful city.

The truth hurts.

Been to KNoxville. No good restaurants, no culture. Take the University away and it is Jackson, TN.

Sounds like you're describing Memphis. A gentleman at the YMCA told me that his son was thinking about enrolling at Memphis State and went on a visit up there and the city and area immediately around the campus were so appalling that he went to Arkansas State instead.

I beg to differ.

East Tennessee > West Tennessee.

And I live in west Tennessee. If I could take my family, friends and job to east Tennessee, I would in a heartbeat.

the area directly surrounding UMemphis is actually relatively nice
Meh. My sister (UT grad) lives within 2 blocks of the university and I am scared for her safety at all times. She did just upgrade her security system though. :good!:

She enjoys being in the middle of "it all" (Cooper Young, etc.). I have no use for any of it so I chose Fayette County.

Neither is Football technically. Those NC UT has won came from the BCS, AP, UPI, etc. not the NCAA. NCAA does not crown NC in football. Just a glorified popularity contest.

Grasping at straws with that post.

No matter what it is TN is better than Memphis. Done deal. Better football team, better basketball team, better coaches, better facilities, better fans, better women. Memphis is not the best place. Yes Memphis has had a pretty good run the past couple of years but who remembers the 2nd place teams in the tournament? Nobody. Tennessee and Candy are the colleges from TN not Memphis.
