Memphis Recruits

Just curious...Has CCM lost a recruit to Memphis that is not from Memphis?

CCM beat out Memphis for Hubbs and now Austin. I can't recall any recruits Pastner has signed that CCM was also recruiting outside of the Memphis city limits.

CCM lost Shaq Goodwin and Dominic Woodson (by way of Baylor) to Pastner

Pastner lost Robert Hubbs and Larry Austin to CCM

Looks like they are even to me

We'll likely sign a better PG than Larry Austin.

Hubbs is a a Tennessee guy not from the Memphis area so odds are he won't pan out.

You Vols fans keep saying that you're "loaded at the guard and wing spot" r "guard/wing heavy".

What am I missing, you've got Hubbs and now Austin at the guard position. How is that "loaded" or "heavy"?

Woodson? Not quite. When Woodson reopened his recruitment Tennessee had 13 scholarship players, they didn't pursue him at that point. They did recruit him originally when he ultimately chose Baylor.

PG: Austin, Thompson
SG: Hubbs, Cornish
SF: Richardson, Moore, Q
F: Cofer, Davis, Reese
C: Ndiaye

The 1 & 2 are pretty loaded, you're talking about 4 players all ranked top 150 fighting for 80 minutes at those 2 spots. SF is pretty tight with what will be rising senior Josh Richardson probably backed up by a will be junior Armani Moore who got big minutes as a frosh. There are serious questions in the post, that's why as everyone is saying, the staff is now looking to fill the final 2 spots with posts.

I'm sorry if you don't like this, or if you think it should be done differently, but that's the truth. Tennessee pulled their offers to Mitchell, McCormick and Jackson along with Demery because they feel the last 2 spots need to be used on posts.

We actually have other guys on the roster. Maybe you should take a look at it. Or maybe you could just continue with the nonsense.

Because those guys are going to be as good as advertised so there is no need to more depth........... Gothcha

Landing a PG and a SG in consecutive years (Thompson and Austin at PG, Hubbs and Cornish at SG) is the very definition of recruiting depth.

If you're going to make an argument, at least make it legitimate.

I hope this statement is made to simply stir the pot. There is no way you really believe that.

Vincent Yarbrough, CJ Black, Marcus Haislip, Wayne Chism, and Brandon Wharton are examples from the last twenty years at UT alone. Maybe not great pros, but all really good college players from the state of Tennessee outside of Shelby County.

Do you think that if Woodson showed interest, Martin would have pulled Ndiaye's(sp) scholly?

Now you guys know what I have to live with here in Memphis around these memphis fans during BskB. season!! The logic some of them use and the ammunition they come up with is freakin" ridiculous sometimes!!:banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2::banghead2:

All guys that CCM would be better cutting ties with, Washpun-style, in order to bring guys like Devin Mitchell aboard.

As for Mitchell, Demery ad McCormick, I highly doubt Tennessee pulled their offers to these kids. These kids may have saw a spot fill up and head elsewhere, but UT didn't pull their offer

No. The only one you highlighted that would consider leaving is Chievous. The others have been recruited this year or last, or Moore showed great promise, especially defensively. Cornish and Thompson were as highly ranked as Mitchell. You guys are reaching big time. It is pretty clear that you didn't know the makeup of the roster.

Cornish is a 2 star. Tompson ranked a bit higher, but unranked at his position.

Mitchell is a 4 star, and will be able to play at the high major level. He's clearly the best of the three, IMO.

I knew that was coming. I look at Rivals because I follow football as well, and Rivals was the site 15 years ago. Cornish and Thompson were top 150 and 3 stars. Cornish is 132 actually. I don't believe Mitchell is ranked. I won't get into a "whose ranking is better" argument. Regardless, it shows one is clearly not better than the other.

VolGee, quit feedin the beast bruh. He should have lost you when he called Cornish a 2*.

So Thompson and Cornish are now equivalent to Washpun? Ok MC.

Well like I've said for the hundredth time now, think what you want. It's funny though that the "Memphis fan" knows more about Tennessee recruiting than all the Tennessee fans and analysts who get paid to cover Tennessee recruiting. There's not one person that has agreed with you, all the "evidence" points the direction that tennessee pulled their offers. I havent seen one bit showing your side, not much reasoning to continue arguing with someone who is as stubborn as you though.

Try again, if you wanna be "selective" since it fits your agenda then guess what, Cornish is a 4*.

You also said that Memphis would likely sign a PG better than Chiozza when he committed to UF.

Who exactly is this mystery PG? Ullis is going to Michigan State. Dominic Magee is supposedly a heavy OK State lean. Lourawls Nairn? He's a good two inches shorter than Chiozza. Alex Robinson is similarly ranked to Austin.
