Memphis scared of TN

Thompson Boling and The Fedex Forum both seat over 21k. UT finished 5th in attendance at over 18k. Memphis finished 8th with over 16k. Both respectable. Still a little shocking that with all the support the Tigers get in Memphis ( according to the pro tiger high posts) they are about 5k short selling out on average each game.

According to the Fedex forum seating chart cap. 20,142 Why don't they have more than 16k? You have been telling me how big Memphis BB was in the city? :birgits_giggle:

That must be for concerts. Barely over 18 for basketball.

But seriously dude, just stop.

Why? Your the one that's been holding Tiger High up as a superior BB program. This is and has been my point. Memphis averages 16k in an 18k arena. Memphis plays in CUSA. Nobody has even looked at them for a BCS conference, not even BB heavy Big East. Memphis brings nothing to a BCS Conference. No TV money, no fans, no academics (high school level education). Hell, Middle Tennessee State brings more. Memphis = small potatoes

you must be the most uninformed poster on this board.

20,142 was the official capacity for The Pyramid.

You knock Memphis for avg 16,000 in and 18,000 arena? Tn avg'd 19,000 in a 21,000 seat arena. Stupid logic on your part.

and yes, Memphis is a superior program and has been for the last 40+ years.

I never once said that Memphis was the superior basketball program.

I just have a low tolerance for morons.

Last time I checked UT is a football school, that averages 2k more than your BB program. Did you read this tread from the start or just jump in late. Why are you idiots only bringing up size of the arena. you can't debate this rest. UT leans the series 11-7. Gets more TV coverage, bigger gate, sells more caps and T-shirts etc. Pearl turned you down. Your BB program had to hire an asst. on the staff.
Again I got the attendence from the Forum seating chart. look it up.

You do realize that The Tigers and Grizz both share an arena right? Well, share may not be the right word, but the Tigers get to play in an NBA arena nonetheless.

Yes, I just didn't know that moron had go to a Grizzlies sell out to get the cap. of the Forum. I give in on the 18k

Tom Hanks, I really have enjoyed your movies over the years. Especially Bachelor Party, Big, Forrest Gump and even the Memphis based movie Castaway. But you are a dumbazz about sports

At least be informed before you try to trash other programs.
The facts are this:

1--Memphis ranks 8th in attendance playing teams like Tulsa, Tulane and Southern Miss. How many fan bases can do this playing teams like these.

2--The 'Memphis has no money' comment is obvious ignorant. Memphis' practice facilities, FedEx Forum and FedEx Money is on par with the top basketball programs in the nation.

3--It seems that you refuse to accept that Memphis has an overall superior basketball program than Utenn in regards to history, recruiting, and national respect. Utenn has made a decent run in the past few years under BP. (By the way, Bruce Pearl was the best thing to happen to Utenn, not many coaches can turn a program around like he did.)

4--Although we play on national TV more than you choose to recognize, don't underestimate the importance of being a member of a 'major' conference. How many times would Utenn basketball be on TV if it wasn't for Kentucky, Florida, and Vandy!

Again, You haven't read this tread from the start. It's not about tradition. Secondly Head to head. Uk, VU, UF wouldn't be on TV as much without UT. You ain't superior to nobody. You had a nice run with Cal. That's it. Unless you want to go back 30 plus years. Who do you have a TV contract with? Still Tiger High! What your record against the SEC? 7-11 against UT.

our record against the SEC is:

90-68 all time
16-8 over the last 10 years (we've beaten 8 of the 12 teams in that span and havent played the other 4)

it must burn your little a$$ up that Memphis won more NCAA tournament games over the last 6 years (your best run ever) than UT did. Apparently, conf affiliation and TV contracts dont matter. Idiot.

Memphis has a higher population than TN. It should have more attendance IMO. Afterall, there is no football worth going to spend money on tickets IMO. Memphis is a basketball city, a basketball school, and has had solid success on a continued basis. When Pastner gets relieved of his duties and a real coach takes over, you will probably be back in the hunt for the Final Four again. I would take CCM over CJP any day of the week though. Pastner has about as much control over his team as I have over my son's U6 soccer team. They listen, but once they get on the field... They revert back to their natural aggression level, alertness level, and teamwork goes out the window. Of course, that is expected of kids at the age of 6. 18-22 year olds should follow their coach and have their coach lead them instead of acting like he is the 5'10" white kid that sits at the end of the bench and doesn't even know what number is underneath his warm-ups.

Tennessee beat your a$$ in Memphis last year. The Vols ran your a$$ out of the gym this your in Knoxville. Head to Head 11-7 TN. Tennessee owns your a$$. No wonder Pastner wants out of the TN game. Scared!:shaking2:

Not looking at tradition

Let's look at other factors. Not including actual numbers but if you choose to debate the following points then I will dig up numbers for you.

Sending players to NBA:
advantage Memphis

Recruiting:
advantage Memphis

Tournament Success over last 6 years:
advantage Memphis

Shoe Contract (Nike)
advantage Memphis

Developing players:
advantage Memphis--i.e. Scotty Hopson, Tyer Smith vs. Major project in Joey Dorsey (still in the NBA by the way).

You say that Kentucky, Florida, and Vandy would not be on TV if it wasn't for Tennessee. You sir are what we call a DELUSIONAL Utenn homer!

that's the one that really pisses them off. Their best run ever and Memphis was a more successful program over that time frame.

Now, they're stuck with a guy who couldnt make the tournament and had a losing record in the MVC.

Well, Memphis would be great if they didn't have to play TN. TN holds an edge against FL and VU. But of course not UK. What are we a farm system or a BB program. Herm Edward " You play to win the game. Hello, You play to win the game. Bottom line Memphis = Mid Major
