Michael Dyer - now Louisville bound (merged)

What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

To even consider writing up a scholarship offer for Dyer, you have to be very, very clear in the language that he will be kept under a microscope on campus. And Im sure with the previous charges he is probably still on parole so that helps a bit, at least with regard to drug tests and such. Doesn't sound like an easy scholarship to sell, nor do I see any reason for even considering Dyer right now if you are Coach Jones. Yes, he has a ton of talent and we hope to see him use it rather than throw it away, but a new head coach plus a potential trainwreck situation in Dyer equals major momentum swing in the other direction. Negative press for UT when UT needs it the least! But then again, if he succeeds and does well, Coach Jones looks like the man and ends up with a top, all-SEC RB on his roster.

I don't see why it has to be negative press. CBJ comes out after he is signed and says yes he is a Vol and we have high expectations for him. Test his weekly and restrict him from speaking to the press. He screws up out the door. One and done!

It doesn't have to be. The press is an entirely different animal though and some lousy journalists will do all they can to blow up a story so long as their name is at the top of it, even at the expense of making a University or a new head coach look bad.

But I sure wish it were as simple as "One and done". Just think it's good to be very cautious in this situation as a new head coach at a University that is struggling to regain its former reputation.

the vols are not that desperate. they don't need to be. CBJ will run a clean program and will recruit the kind of kids that will make this university proud both on the field and off. i'm thinking i have more faith then a lot of you guys.

To be honest. I didn't realize that's what he had done. But yes, I take the kid. Sick with the ball. I mean we all loved Lewis when he was at UT. Total thug.

I thought he had got sent out because of drugs.
