Michael Dyer - now Louisville bound (merged)

What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

Heard for the longest time he'd be at Louisville, now there are rumors about Tennessee getting in the mix.
I think if you are any SEC East team, you would like for him to end up playing for Charlie Strong. The Vols get a dynamic running back like that with their offensive line and it becomes a very different situation on offense in Knoxville this season.

-247Sports' JC Shurburtt

Hmmm, where are they hearing rumors from is my question. :detective:

Shurburtt or Hubbs?

I don't take what Hubbs said as bad. I think what he said is good for UT's chances. If Butch had no interest in Dyer and wasn't trying to get him Hubbs would have likely said something like, "I don't believe UT has any interest." Just like he did with the Texas transfer QB. Many times you have to read between the lines with Hubbs. I could be wrong and just being blinded because I desperately want Dyer on the team. We'll find out where he ends up very soon. I really really really hope it's UT. IMO

I'll stick with Hubbs. Would be awesome if we got Dyer, but not getting my hopes up.

Same here. Time is running out for him. He needs to pick a school soon. Practice bout to start up at most places

Interesting take on Hubbs, although I'm still not getting my hopes up.

If Dyer does come, though, I'm with Shurburtt in believing that changes the dynamics of our season. I think we could go toe to toe with anyone in the East, if we have a dynamic, proven playmaker like Dyer in our backfield. It would just take so much pressure off our QB and WRs and allow them to develop at a normal pace, IMO.

Could take us from 6-7 win team to a 7-8. Possibly 9 depending on the bowl game.

Agreed 100%

I'm praying for a 8-4 season. But expecting a 7-5. (No I'm not drunk lol)

I'm counting on CBJ's energy to transfer to the field and our boys kick a little butt this year.

A man can dream can't he?

Has he been observed lately regarding his size, stamina, etc? I really am hopeful as well that he could be a game changer this season, but if he's been on the couch eating doritos for the last two years...that's another story.

Or 10 if we win a few we shouldn't possibly. Or 11.

With Dyer:

Austin Peay
WKU
SoAL
Auburn
Kentucky
Vandy
Missiouri

And then possibility UGA, UF, or the most likely upset USCjr.

8 wins is realistic with Dyer.

Will be running 52 .... 100 yard sprints nightly

I didn't expect this thread to baloon to 20 pages of pure speculation so fast.

Anyway, spoke to my friend again today and he hasn't heard anything about the situation since. So no news. Plz go to Louisville

Exactly. A really good RB behind this OL will be the difference between 6-7 wins and possibly 8-9 wins this fall. It's a big deal and I hope Butch takes him. With all the good Butch has done for UT football so far in his 8 months, I think he's earned the right to take a chance on Dyer. He only has to be on campus for 5 months, that's it. Put him on a short leash, have 2-3 guys follow him around 24/7 and keep him focused on running the rock in the teeth of SEC defenses.

If he is only on campus 5 months, do we not take another APR hit? If I have to decide between Dyer and no post season, I say pass on the problem recruit.

Assign Tiny, Fulton, James, and Stone six hour shifts to babysit if we have to. We need this kid.

I want florida's ass so bad I can't stand it. I want that W

It's far more winnable than most think. They have about as much offensively as we do. If we can steal one on special teams or through a trick play, we can win that....or if we just bring in Dyer.

Shouldn't be necessary imo. Butch could make him undergo weekly drug screens as well as a one and done policy. Those two things should make him see the light of day that if he screws up one more time, his NFL dream is gone.
