Michael Dyer - now Louisville bound (merged)

What's your opinion of the possibility that Dyer is a Vol?

I see sneaking this guy on-off campus to be about the most amazing piece of stupidity in recent UT football history.

You would prefer we invite national
media? I'm not saying we had him wear a fake mustache or anything, I just don't think we would mention the visit to the media, and I doubt the casual fan could spot Dyer on the street.

Like CP last year. I think it's worth the risk on occasion. Dyer could be a monster behind our line. And throw in Lane and Neal? Wow.

If Dyer does come, Neal and Lane better get to know the guys running with the 2's & 3's real well. They will spend a good deal of time together over the next 4-5 months together.

I dunno. I believe there will be plenty of carries for three good backs in this offense. Someone mentioned Lewis, Henry, and Bryson in a previous post. That's a great example. Neal and Lane are talented. I truly expect them to do well this year. You throw in an elite, 5* back with them ... special things could happen.

Disclaimer: I can't speak to this kid's character or how much he's changed. My opinion is totally based on football skills and my desire to kick the crap out of every other SEC team this year.

If he visited would you prefer we invites ESPN to cover it?

Umm, yes. Media coverage is great for UT when it's positive (such as receiving a 5* national championship winning RB) (such as giving a kid a chance to atone for his past mistakes).

That said, I would prefer we pass on him regardless. Not worth the APR risk IMO. But I'm not entirely sure if he's incapable of a 4.0, simply going off hearsay on VN (which could be stupid in and of itself)

Someone needs to find out if Dyer even needs two years to graduate. He should be close by now right? He took a whole year off of CFB and was just in the classroom.

The Louisville registrar's office has Michael Dyer in its database, but the 2011 BCS MVP not yet admitted/enrolled: http://cjky.it/14tXaSr

Interesting, but sounds like they're not sure if he's chosen UL yet.

Still, until I here a similar report from Tennessee, I don't believe we're going to be landing this guy. Louisville sounds much further along than we are.

The way I see it: Things are looking good for UT football in the next few years. We're building recruiting classes that are top-notch character wise and academic wise. We're getting kids that are in love with the school. I don't see too much attrition in our future, nor APR hits.

That being said, I think that if you can get Dyer, you take him. The guy undoubtedly has to know this is his last chance. He would be on a very short leash. He's proven he can play in the SEC, and he performed well on a championship team. He would probably love the chance to get to play Auburn this year, as a shot at redemption.

I think you take him if you can get him. We need help. Lane and Neal are solid backs, but they did not prove last year that they can get what we need them to get. Plus, if one gets hurt, unless Alden Hill has a breakout year (which he very well may), you're in trouble.

Butch likes to run the ball. Next year, he'll have better depth, but this year, he doesn't have nearly what he'd like to have. I could see this happening. The smoke is certainly picking up, and Ron is right, you have to read between the lines with Hubbs. He won't say something if there's a possibility of him being wrong. He's very conservative with his statements, which is why he's one of the best.

When he says, "I have no evidence that..." That's interesting. It's like me saying, "I have no evidence that my wife is cheating on me...." but I can have suspicion or a feeling. Don't know. High quality RB out there, we missed on some big ones, we're looking for immediate success. I can see it happening. I want it to happen. But I'm also confident that Neal and Lane can do good things, but Dyer can be the difference between a average season and a good one.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek, but I agree with you.

Home Podcasts Basketball Football Other UL Sports Cardinal News Contact Michael Dyer Looks to be One Step Closer to Becoming a Cardinal July 29th, 2013 By Ethan Moore under Football 2 photo – saline247.com According to the C-J’s Jonathan Lintner, Michael Dyer has been added to the registrar’s office system. That is the first step in the process of being officially enrolled. Also, Teddy told ESPN’s Joe Schad that the team would be open to Dyer playing with them when he was on campus a few days ago. So, we have UofL confirming that he’s on the registrar’s system and Teddy saying that Dyer was on campus. Just another couple of pieces to the puzzle and it looks to equal out to Michael Dyer playing for Louisville this fall. University of Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, participating Monday in a series on interviews at ESPN, told reporter Joe Schad that Cardinals players are open to Michael Dyer joining their team. The former Auburn running back visited campus last week after checking out South Florida. An official with U of L’s registrar office confirmed that the university added Dyer to its system on Thursday, which is often an indication a prospective student plans to apply for enrollment. Dyer has until Aug. 26 to register for the fall semester if he intends to enroll at U of L, the official said.:
