Yeah, I felt good about Butch AND Pearl. I had to be talked in to being OK about Dooley and Martin. I feel good about White so far, not so good about Pitino JR. That is all based on not too much information, but I'm all in at this point, on White.

I guess with Pitino I just don't think he would be mentioned anywhere yet if it wasn't for his name. May prove to be a good coach though later. I think Dooley was just such an opposite of Kiffin that I tried to buy in....wrongly. Cuonzo....just had a hard act to follow. And he just never seemed happy here. To go from Pearl's passion to Cuonzo's monotone pressers.....it was just hard. I really appreciated his keeping our players focused in the classroom and out of trouble. But, I am excited about White and really hope it happens.

I'm good with White. He's a much better coach than Martin was and I'm more convinced by his recruiting abilities at Ole Miss that he can do the same, and easier, at UT. He also built that LA Tech from scratch and is a future star, in my opinion. We passed on Bill Self and Gregg Marshall, so I hope we don't miss out on another great up and comer. Martin never had the pedigree.

Yeah, I think this one would work for all sides. We can get him cheap, and he would get a big raise.

By the way, what is his current salary? Serious question. I have forgotten.

That about sums it up for me. Pitino could be another Dooley (coaches son) to some extent...Excitement, yeah, a little excitement would be nice.

Well, our percentage isn't good for the last 6 hires. Pearl is the only real great hire, so it is about time another one goes our way.

We just want to stress nothing is done here, no deal is signed. We're not sure it's going to get to that point. As we've said, and obviously others are hearing and writing the same, there's been a ton of chatter about him tonight, and as Brent noted, there have definitely been conversations between the two parties.

There's no doubt in our minds that Tennessee has some interest in that direction, but again, nothing is finalized there and let's not assume right now that's how it's going to end up.

Exactly. Tennessee is just too good of a school and is too special to not get a coach to bring back the passion for basketball.

I think Pitino could be a good coach. He took a team who really only had experience in the backcourt in the toughest conference in the country and put them on the bubble with an NIT Championship. No one that we are looking at is a guarantee. But lets not always compare all coach's sons to Dooley.

I'm not. Like I said in the other post....he could prove to be a good coach. I wouldn't be surprised at all. But looking at White's young resume....I see alot more to get excited about. Just my opinion.

My personal favorite Mike White stat is 32-1 in his last 33 home games, although my personal favorite Mike White thing is everything
