Michigan City Bans LGBTQ Pride Flag

Gays were given the right to marry less than 8 years ago. And this board is full of folks who call them an abomination comparing them to pedophiles while saying they are doing it in the lord's name. And I got news for those people, if your right about heaven and hell... you better pack for the after life light because you're gonna be warm.
I shared this thought in an earlier post:

These moments of friction are exacerbated when the change becomes politicized and endorsed publicly.

The right to marry was a coordinated effort by a galvanized gay community in response to a political ploy when Karl Rove put the the issue on state's ballots in order to increase turnout for Bush 2, electric boogaloo.

It wasn't until 2016 when gay couples were allowed to adopt in all states.

The problem still is that some people's attitude is being gay is fine as long as you don't tell me and I don't have to see it.

The pendulum has swung the other way. But let's not ignore the plight of others.
People who want multiple spouses are still denied the legal ability to do so this very day.

All of your arguments seem to be about gay people. I don't think people care about gays, what they care about is transsexuals performing lewd dances in front of children and they care about pedophiles. The letter people have hitched their wagon to all sorts of perverted people and lumped them together, and that is where the problem began. Why does there need to be a group that celebrates gays, lesbians, biexuals, transexuals, queers, intersexual, asexual, and 2 spirit people?

Truthfully, I don't care if they do have multiple spouses provided they are not allowed any sort of public assistance because of that decision.

Because leftists can literally only think of things in simple, black & white, collective boxes. They are totally incapable of nuance, so any "oppressed" group that they think is remotely similar gets slapped with the same label whether the majority in that group want it or not.

My issue is with people that lump beastiality, pedophilia, necrophilia etc into the same group and use it to discriminate against people who are none of those things. And there are quite a few people on this board that happily shove all gay people back in their unmarried closet.

The irony in this post is strong.

Also, of note, the "gay community" quite literally stole the flag of the indigenous people of Peru. Colonizers.

I'd just like to understand who these people that want more than one spouse are?

I'm not going to get into any debate here, but I've mentioned before how Pride is more about personal acceptance and community. It's not for everyone, and understandably so.

I don't think folks realize many in the community have been, and are still, rejected by their family, friends and faith. The LGBTQ community is their chosen family. One which accepts and loves them for who they are. It's especially true for younger folks.

Yes, the parades often include very risqué behavior, but that's certainly not all they are or what they're about. It's just a part of having a large umbrella. BTW, I've never been to a Pride event anywhere close to the debauchery at Mardi Gras, and there are children there all the time.

Well, that's not what I asked. I asked what rights are they being deprived of in 2023. But since we are on the subject, why does it matter whether gay marriage is governmentally sanctioned or not? If two gay people love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together, why do they care whether it has the government's stamp of approval on it or not?

I would question the sanity of any man who wants multiple wives over anybody in the alphabet community.

Just curious, where do you stop the letters at as far as acceptance? Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals seem to be okay with almost everyone. The letters after that are the one that seem to get controversial.

A flag is pure symbolism. Locking kids in cages is not. Tax cuts for the mega rich is not. Telling cops to rough up those they arrest is not. I could go on.
Who built the cages??? The mega rich got rich due to Dem lockdowns....defending the police has caused more deaths then ever before..any more stupid you wanna spew or ya done trolling for now?

Because that stamp of approval comes with a boatload of privileges. And because why should it be any different for them?

What does twerking in front of a child and whipping a person in assless chaps while simulating sodomy have to do with pride and acceptance??? Too many examples of this at pride parades to say it about equal right..it about being treated special because of your sexuality

How many pride parades have you been to?

Again, if they want to be treated just like everyone else, maybe not feel the need to call it to attention? I don't recall having a hetero pride month or people parading over the fact that they're straight. We certainly don't have a hetero flag. We just go about our daily lives and don't concern ourselves with the whole world knowing which side of the fence we're on.

A co-worker of mine is gay and he H A T E S pride month with a passion! He thinks it's a stupid concept (his own words) and he hates how the LGBT community is weaponizing it to coerce businesses into publicly supporting it, otherwise being labeled as bigoted and homophobic.

You got a black friend, as well? Perhaps you can tell us about how he loves Trump and he thinks all police officers are good people. Then we can run off and extrapolate your friends opinions on to the rest of their respective demographic.

Nobody told you how great they were. You were simply told they had just as much right to practice their religion as Christians do in this country. Big difference. I'd prefer nobody practice religion because there would be a lot less strife in the world.
Thankfully our constitution overrides what people like you want

I think the alphabet can be overwhelming, honestly. I think this storm spawned around the "T". The other letters are really not controversial, imo.

Q = queer or questioning. Questioning is self-explanatory, and includes folks who don't quite have a handle on their sexuality. In my experience these folks ultimately end up heterosexual or bi-sexual. Queer is mostly a term some use as a blanket instead of using gay/lesbian/bi. I know some folks in the community might dispute that, but I think that captures most.

I = intersex. This is a physical situation. From WebMD: Intersex is an umbrella term used to categorize various reproductive and sexual anatomy differences that don’t fit the usual male or female definitions. In short, intersex individuals may have chromosomes, genitals, or internal reproductive organs that don’t fit into the typical male or female category or may possess characteristics of both male and female sexes.

A = Asexual. These folks have no sexual attraction to anyone or anything.
