Michigan spied on Vols last year

I'm attached to this conspiracy like a tick on a sack.

The anomaly that was SC beating Tennessee and Clemson makes it worth considering.

I heard a statistic that Vegas hasn't whiffed on a line as badly as the UT vs SC game... Ever. They missed it by 46 points. Vegas does not just miss like that.

It's also the only two games in two years SC looked like world beaters. It's also the only two games they wore wristbands.

I haven't even mentioned all the smoke... But it's becoming enough to feel the heat.

Vegas misses like that every year. Two similar results I can think of off the top of my head, in 2019 we were a 30 point favorite against Georgia State and lost by 8 (scoring a TD inside a minute left to cut it from a 45 point differential to a 38). As it's Florida-Georgia week, I read an article earlier in the week about great upsets in the history of that rivalry. In 1997, Florida was a 21.5 point favorite and got beat by 20 (41.5 point difference), to make matters more confusing we lost to that Florida team by 13 but beat the crap out of Georgia that same year. In dealing with the emotions and focus of 18-22 year olds these results don't always make sense. I also remember either an Iowa or Purdue game against Ohio State when Urban Meyer was at OSU where OSU was upset and the line was off about 50 points. It happens.

Vegas makes money by evening out the amount of bets on each side and always taking the juice. The line settles wherever it needs to in order to even out the money. For Vegas, the public's perception of how good two teams are is more important than the reality. So that is another factor that can lead to really anomalous results. That Florida-Georgia game in 1997 for example had a match up the public's perception was way off on, Jaquez Green was a WR who had been slicing and dicing SEC defenses that year and was getting the GameDay interviews and what not, but what the public didn't know was UGA had a sophomore corner coming into his own that wasn't yet a household name who would be shadowing Green. A kid named Champ Bailey who played about 15 years in the NFL and is now in the HOF. The public's (bettors) perception of how that match up was going to go didn't match the reality that Bailey would man Green up all day.

Signals didn't have anything to do with Rattler throwing some unusually long, perfectly placed passes.
Bad and wrong take. If the offense knows the coverage and where the blitzes are coming from I guarantee you that the offense will beat the defense 90% of the time.

Didn’t the guy on VQ say the scouting was done after the SCjr loss?

Edit: the scout was allegedly sent to the Vandy game which was after the loss. Not sure where they would’ve gotten the signals if UM hadn’t scouted yet.
No. I read it as the guy was already sent to go, but then we lost so it didn’t matter, but he went anyways.

True. But if they had our defense signals that definitely could’ve helped them score 60+.

Plus as I said if they knew our offense signals that could’ve helped led to Hookers injury.

Hooker planted his foot and his knee gave way. It could’ve happened on any play, not sure why people are linking his injury to scouting other than it just gives them something else to be mad about

Michigan may have helped. They may not have helped. One thing is for certain - the media is latched on to the Wolverines like ticks chowing down on a animal, and they aren't going to let go until they've sucked every drop of blood they can out of the story. If there's any proof that Stallions or his enterprise sent stuff to teams out of conference, that's huge news, and it'll leak. Sooner or later, it'll leak, and we'll know. My advice would be to wait, enjoy the circus being in Ann Arbor rather than Knoxville, (as it so often seems to be), and let the bloodsuckers do their dirty work.

Not that I'm lecturing people who want to speculate. Hell, I'm speculating online about it too. The wristbands, the bizarre way in which a terrible South Carolina suddenly demolished UT and Clemson in back to back weeks, the idea that this dude and his posse worked to manipulate the entire sport to the benefit of Michigan, it'd be one hell of a story if it's true.

I am sure the Netflix documentary movie will be out just in time for Bowl
Season.

We may not have been behind if they hadn’t know the plays all game and Hooker might not have been scrambling if they hadn’t known what play he was running.

I love a good conspiracy as much as the next guy, but, if Michigan thought they might face us in the playoffs, why would they share this gold with usc? Wouldn't they save it?

This is definitely tinfoil hat territory. But his knee could’ve been weakened by tackles from earlier in the game.

It's not that they thought they would play us. It's they thought that Tennessee and Clemson would surpass them especially if they somehow lost to OSU. It was an insurance policy.

Rattler beat our defense with his scrambling and pinpoint passing.
Look at his stats from all year. He had like 8 touchdowns, then vs us and Clemson he goes crazy. Sure everything could’ve just clicked but it’s the same team that lost to Florida, Arkansas and Mizzuo. And only scored 6 vs Florida and 10 against Mizzuo. Seems fishy to say the least.

D has signs too.
Yeah, I'm not sure how big of an advantage knowing the Tenn O signs would be. Defending the pace of that O is more about just getting matched up and in position before the snap. I don't think there would be enough time to steal a signal and change an alignment before the ball was snapped.

OTOH, knowing the D call would certainly help an offense. Imagine knowing which defenders would pass rush, or being tipped off to every D slant, stunt and coverage packages. Based on the fact that SoCar's O looked unstoppable in that game, if anything nefarious occurred it was SoCar knowing the D signals.

Interesting dynamics here. One side saying “definitely spying” and the other side screaming “no way something like this could happen”. IDK either way but if we’ve learned one thing the past three years that’s 100% true…”evil people will do whatever it takes to win..even spying and fake accusations ”! 🤷🤷🤷 Be interesting to see where this river flows to.

Certainly seems very likely that this was a possibility. If so that game makes me rage even more. Add to it, if they were cheating by stealing signs and it lead to Hooker getting hurt, that would be unforgivable imo.

Edit:

Shame Beamer is now admitting to consulting with other teams about future opponents.

Not sure how much of this entire story is true or how much it impacted the games, but I didn't see a ton of "want to" from UT defensively in the USC game. Once Hooker got hurt, that was it for the team. Signs? To a degree, but you can't wash away the stink from that game by blaming these allegations. UT players and coaches will retain ownership of one of the most costly losses in our program history....at least with me.
