That's exactly right. Cultural diversity is a weakness to any country. You get zero benefit from it, none. It only serves to divide because large sections of the population cannot relate to one another.

where did he say "cultural" diversity?

that's usually not even the argument in the DEI crowd.

Diversity is great if everyone is working towards some common or shared goal. but there is no common or shared goal that we are working towards to say diversity, which we already have, is an added strength. Our leaders don't care enough to create a common goal.

being diverse in and of itself is not a strength. it doesn't use the diversity. it doesn't put the diversity in a place to cover up the issues from the homogenous base. the end goal is just to be diverse. what does that get us? what does that solve? Nothing.

right now diversity is being used to divide, not to build up.

You're right, it is being used to divide. All I am saying that cultural diversity makes any nation weaker. Aside form a global catastrophe, I don't see anyone drawing closer in said country. The main issue is that people cannot relate to one another, and the outsiders are less likely to relate to, or embrace their new home country in the case of an emergency.

We (the US and before that the colonies) chose cultural diversity from almost our beginning. We doubled down during the mid-1800''s and again on a huge scale late 1800's / early 1900's with immigration. Without that diversity our economy wouldn't have developed the way it did. How did all that diversity made us weaker?

Diversity only works if those diverse cultures assimilate into one. If they choose to isolate themselves into little Somalia then we aren't really diverse now are we?

It's different now. They didn't celebrate being part of the great melting pot. They live separately, don't learn the language, etc etc etc

I doubt it's different. I don't think the Africans who arrived in the 1600's and 1700's celebrated much, and a lot of the later immigrants didn't assimilate.

they didn't stay diverse. they came to be Americans. not English-Americans, not German-Americans, not Italian-Americans. the people coming in today to be Americans are a net positive, regardless of how much or little diversity they bring.

if they are staying "diverse" but just living in America, its like adding an untrained rower to a boat. yeah they are technically "helping", but if they don't match the rhythm or direction as the rest, they are actually hurting it. and so are the leaders who are actively making sure there are no actual tryouts for the best of the team.

Nothing in the earlier discussion referenced violence. Why did you suddenly need to move away from diversity and assimilation? The fact is that assimilation was never immediate like some want to pretend and then force the expectations on current immigrants. How were the Irish treated when they got to this country?
