Usually what Farrell says, the opposite happen. gt09, a GA tech rivals contributor, said Farrell was a moron.

Farrell has a dog in the fight given the fact that recruiting rankings are his and others stock and trade. If a coach builds a class without a lot of *'s they have no choice but to trash it because any success without the 'proper number of *'s' is a threat to their existence. The previous statement not withstanding; I think Dooley and staff will finish strong and will have the 'proper number of *'s' to make the top 15.

Somehow I don't think that is what he was saying. We need players that can qualify, enroll early, be able to learn the playbook, and have the ability to contribute asap. (if you haven't noticed we have a lot of depth problems). Also, he mentioned that we have to take a bunch of linemen on both sides, and the "stars" never accompany these prospect like they do the skill positions.

Agree with both

This Mike guy is in the business of "selling" stars. Why does he want to say that you don't need stars to succeed?

Its like Nike Golf saying that Callaway is coming out with a better Driver then they have this year for higher handicappers:) - They would never admit it!!

We can only play the cards we have and this year the deck is stacked against us. "As far as I know" we are focusing on depth and quality of the choices we have. You don't build a foundation of a good football team overnight. Last years talent is shaping up to be a good one and if you couple that with this years depth you and add in a year of experience for both classes plus others and you have a good team and more promise!

Some guys here need to start looking at this outside of their current position.

Here's a question:

Lets say you were working for Rivals and were fired up about your direction with the company plus your position is pretty high up there and you were not and never was a Vols fan. How would you answer the question about Tennessee's current recruiting position, knowing that you always have to keep rivals.com rankings as the base standard? Maybe you would be less "harsh" but you also wouldn't be too positive about their * position.

Then you would also know that once you went to a fan website like volnation and read what they had to say about what you said..... it would sould like this.

"That Mike guy is nothing but a dumb stupid moron that doesn't know anything."

:):)

Hey look guys. We have a stable of potentially great receivers, excellent QB prospects in Bray and Worley, SEC caliber defensive ends, 2 good young kickers, an OL that will be around awhile and are building experience, and some good secondary prospects. We have a good coaching staff and the UT brand and excellent facilities are still going to attract great prospects. We have some holes and depth issues to fill. We need to start some winning again to really get on top, but the foundation is there. I seriously regret that I have to listen to the dawgs, bammers and gators this year, but we are where we are. Next year could be better, but not by much. I believe the break out will be 2012 to get us on top again.

It's no question Tennessee needs help. They probably need to finish at least in the mid pack as far as the SEC goes. I really don't care how many sleepers or guys that might be great after a few years in the system. The fact is Tennessee needs immediate help an no magic dust, working like heck, or looking at the film will fix it.

This is what will define Dooley here, if he can't bring in the talent to compete his tenure as head coach won't last long , the end.

No way this class finishes outside the the top 25. I think we'll close strong and have a top 15 class. Regardless, this class will end up being better than the 2006-2008 classes that landed us where we are this year.

Last time I checked we were ranked #24 on rivals as far as points go, but with a star rating of 3.11, we were # 17. No one had a 4.0 or higher.

so basically we will be getting Boise St. caliber talent..

:no:No. They dont always get players of the caliber that we do, guys like Justin Hunter, Darick Rogers, Jaques Smith, James Stone, Jawaun James etc. just to name a few.....

plus Boise St. is ranked in the top 5 in the BCS and could beat several teams in the SEC on a given day.

So we'll have a bunch of guys who will go 6-6, but will work really hard at it and do it in a classy way. This is NOT a positive.

boise state is ranked where currently with 2s? trust your coaches, not some talking d bag

they have had some players of that caliber here lately.

I personally hate this argument, Boise has a proven HC with what seems to be a good staff, we dont (yet). They are also pretty much guaranteed 10 wins, we aren't.

I will guarantee you that the Vols finish no lower than 16th on Rivals. My guess is 13 when it's all said and done.

4 stars that will be Vols:

1. Randolph
2. Martin
3. A.J. Johnson
4. Couch
5. Loften
6. Smith
7. Richardson
8. Wright
9. Clear
10. Mickey Johnson
11. Arnett

Some folks really need to put the orange kool aid down and step away.

What's the orange kool-aid? I will bet you $500 right now that we won't be outside of the top 25 or the top 20 for that matter. Want to take that bet? I can give you my PayPal account to deposit the money.

A respected Florida recruiting analyst says otherwise.

He could, but I think Posey is closer. He's already got 4 on ESPN. A lot of people said Smith and Randolph would get their 4th star at last update but it didn't happen.

If Randolph doesn't get his 4th star then Rivals has no credibility.
