Mike Leach hospitalized - passed away 12/12/22

So Sad to hear - I just found out about his passing away this morning, he was true offensive genius with his "Air Raid" offense , scoring
a lot of points, opening up the passing game to where it made it fun to watch college football , He was a winner pretty
much every where he coached - RIP Coach! You surely made your mark on the game of football.

Pls correct the OP title bc Coach died 12-12 late NOT 12-13
I wondered about the actual date. Haven't seen anything other than "last night". I'll take it out until I see something firm.

The college football world is less interesting without Mike Leach roaming the sidelines. God bless him and his family!

This one hurts. Mike Leach was one of the most respected and revered coaches in college football. He was a guy that took mediocre jobs and took them to unprecedented places. He was very successful and never arrogant. You would never have known he was as successful as he was as a coach or as a man with a small fortune by his demeanor. Usually funny in his own unique sort of way. That's where he exerted his confidence. Not by lashing out at the media, or by establishing any sort of masculinity or other typical methods so many men do with similar fortunes, success and positions of fame and power do. Let alone the many men who have done nothing and are nothing close to what he has accomplished as a human being and coach. He let his work speak for itself and made football fun. The football world certainly never had anything like him before and will certainly not he the same without him. He was only 61.

What a man. The Pirate will be greatly missed. He was my favorite person to see interviewed. I was happy when I heard the rumors he was going to be our next coach. Here is an article that lists some of his best quotes:

Mike Leach's best quotes and one-liners, from Bigfoot to candy corn

This clip is hilarious. Always liked his interviews as there was no coachspeak . He was a heckuva coach and quite a character. RIP Coach Leach, you will be missed.

I was never a big fan of Mike Leach, but I followed his career and often found him humorous and likable. When he was mentioned as a possible replacement for our old coach back in the dark days, I was all for it because I really admired his coaching acumen and thought he would be a good fit at UT. His presence in the college football arena will be sorely missed both as a coach and as an unforgettable character.
It's a sad world in which Mike Leach suddenly no longer exists while a Vladimir Putin continues to defile the planet.

My favorite Mike Leach story . . . If you've never heard about the playsheet caper, take a couple of minutes and watch this. It's hilarious.

That's great & SO Mike Leach. Loved watching him on the sidelines; while other coaches consulted colored, complex, laminated playsheets, the Pirate scribbled on a tiny notebook with a golf pencil! :D
