Dem-led Portland Declares State Of Emergency Over FENTANYL crisis: Oregon Governor wades into turmoil three years after woke city decriminalized drugs that has caused 'economic and reputational harm'

Oregon leaders have declared a 90-day state of emergency in Portland to battle the city's debilitating fentanyl crisis three years after decriminalizing possession of all drugs.

Governor Tina Kotek, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler and Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson made the declaration and are directing their agencies to work with first responders in connecting people addicted to the synthetic opioid with resources including drug treatment programs and to crack down on drug sales.

Fentanly addicts who interact with first responders in Portland's downtown in the next 90 days will be triaged by this new command center. Staff can connect people with various resources from a bed in a drug treatment center to meeting with a behavioral health clinician to help with registering for food stamps.

All irrelevant. Trump is blocking a GOP proposal ro keep the issue going for the campaign

Democrats risk a New Progressive Rebellion as Biden Embraces Border Deal

Progressives are frustrated with President Joe Biden for embracing the bipartisan border security deal that’s emerging in the Senate. And they’re starting to rage against it more loudly.

It’s not the only area where the left is fuming at the Biden administration — its handling of the the Israel-Hamas war has sparked public protests by progressive activists for months. Once the border deal sees the light of day, however, liberal anger is likely to boil over.

The Senate GOP seems to think it will help and Biden says he will use the authorizations provided to act. Trump doesn't want the GOP to give Biden the authority to do so because it would weaken Trump's contention that the border is all Biden's fault.

Yet again, for the 50th time, whatever argument you offer that Biden could do something differently or should have in the past is irrelevant to the fact that Trump is blocking progress -- backed by GOP Senators, until Trump put his fat arse into the equation.

You still didn't answer his question.

Cops allegedly beaten by rowdy migrant mob near Times Square — with Suspects later Freed WITHOUT BAIL: horrifying video

Shocking video captured the moment a migrant mob pounded a pair of cops near Times Square over the weekend — but the busted cowardly suspects were still released back onto the street without bail, sources say.

Police initially busted four of the asylum-seeking thugs, identified by sources as Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19, Juarez Wilson, 21, and Yorman Reveron, 24.

One of the men, Reveron, has two open cases in Manhattan for assault and robbery.

In November, he allegedly “pushed, punched and bit” a Nordstrom Rack employee who caught him lifting a $130 item from the Union Square store’s display rack, according to law enforcement sources.

Last month, Reveron also allegedly “punched with a closed fist” a loss prevention officer at the Herald Square Macy’s after trying to pull off a robbery with two other suspects, the sources said.

Nobody in America "created the situation." What a stupid statement. Migration has become an increasing problem everywhere with numerous conflicts going on and dysfunctional countries. The Republicans like to complain and politicize the border issue and then, when a good legislative solution is at hand, their response is, "Oh, no, we don't really want to do anything now, the gangster needs to campaign on the issue." The Dems will use this cynical BS to advantage--mark it. And Mike Johnson is a weird, little religious and extremist crackpot. He should become Amish--he'd be a much happier little weenie.
The border situation, as it is now, was completely created by this Admin. Your comment is completely and willfully ignorant and obtuse…at best.

The other cop should have shot the guy that was straddling the cop on the ground. That would have been 100% justified.

You still didn't answer his question.

Not sure which specific question you are talking about, but I will stipulate as follows:

1) Congress has not passed any substantive legislation on immigration in over 30 years.
2) The inaction on this can and should be blamed on both Dems and Reps.
3) Both Dems and Reps have, at various points, had an opportunity to act but have made no real effort to do so because it is in their self interest to perpetuate the problem for campaign and fund raising, not to mention their own constituents him and haw about whether they actually want it solved.

The use of this issue as a political volleyball, by both sides, and with neither really attempting to solve it, is shameful.

  • Asylum: Even before the 5,000 encounters per day trigger, anyone who crosses the southern border claiming to seek asylum will have 90 days to pass an initial asylum screening, which will require more proof than the current "credible fear" standard.
  • Detention: During that time, migrants who enter at legal ports of entry will be placed in non-detention monitoring programs. Those who cross illegally will be held in detention until that first screening. Those who fail that screening will be deported and those who pass will be given a final asylum decision within 90 days.
  • Parole: The deal would end Border Patrol's use of a mechanism known as parole and "notice to appear" documents to quickly release people from custody when they are overwhelmed. The Biden administration's more formal parole processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans will remain in place.

Soros-Funded Group Seeks to ‘Turn Texas Blue’ with Mass Immigration

A political action committee (PAC), financially backed by billionaire George Soros, is looking to “turn Texas blue” this year as other left-wing groups have expressed increasing interest in turning the state blue with the help of mass immigration.

Texas Majority PAC, run by consultants who worked for Beto O’Rourke’s failed gubernatorial campaign, is being partially funded by Soros, who has a net worth of $6.7 billion and remains one of the biggest donors to Democrats in the United States.

At the same time, the left-wing group Voto Latino has made it clear they are looking to turn Texas blue this year with mass immigration to the state.

In an op-ed for Democracy Docket, Voto Latino’s CEO Maria Teresa Kumar urges Democrats to take advantage of the nation’s historically high legal immigration levels, where more than a million legal immigrants are admitted every year, in upcoming elections:

A timeline how Biden has encouraged illegal immigration

2021:

+ Ordered a halt to the emergency construction of a wall on the southwest border. (January 20, 2021)
+ Issued an executive order “Preserving and Fortifying + Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals,” (DACA), signaling his support for allowing illegal aliens to remain in the U.S. (January 20, 2021)
+ Revoked Trump-era executive orders promoting border security. (January 20, 2021)
+ Announced a 100-day moratorium on deportations and immigration enforcement. (January 20, 2021)
+ Implemented a policy requiring use of alternatives to removal of illegal aliens, allowing them to remain in the U.S. (February 1, 2021)
+ Issued an executive order to end the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which required asylum-seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases made their way through U.S. immigration courts. (February 2, 2021)
+ Exempted unaccompanied alien children (UAC) from Title 42 expulsion requirements that allowed the U.S. to quickly turn back migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border, for the sake of protecting public health. (February 17, 2021)
+ Biden’s DHS Sec. Mayorkas delivered remarks effectively explaining the border is open for illegal immigration because the new focus would be on “processing” illegal aliens, instead of deporting them, and creating new “lawful pathways” for illegal aliens to remain in the U.S. (March 16, 2021)
+ Began releasing illegal aliens into the U.S. on the honor system, if they promise to self-report themselves to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a later date. (March 20, 2021)
+ Canceled further wall construction being led by the Department of Defense. (Apr 30, 2021)
+ Expanded asylum eligibility to include gender and domestic relationships. (June 16, 2021)
+ Released at least 50,000 aliens, asking them to self-report to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. (July 2021)
+ Authorized the use of “parole plus alternatives to detention” (ATD) in the Del Rio Border Sector. (August 5, 2021)
+ Announced an expansion of alternatives to detention and of taxpayer-funded services to illegal aliens who are fighting removal proceedings. (August 17, 2021)
+ Released more than 100,000 aliens into the U.S. on the self-report honor system. (August 31, 2021)
+ Falsely accused Border Patrol agents on horseback in Del Rio, Texas of whipping aliens at the border. (September 24, 2021)
+ Issued a memorandum encouraging the use of prosecutorial discretion to decline removal of deportable aliens. (September 30, 2021)
+ Distributed more than $300 million in federal law enforcement grants to sanctuary cities, financially rewarding cities whose policies encourage illegal immigration. (Fiscal Year 2021)
+ Canceled border wall contracts led by DHS related to the Laredo and Rio Grande Valley Border Sectors. (Oct 8, 2021)
+ Issued a memorandum prohibiting enforcement of immigration laws in schools, health care facilities, recreational areas, social service and emergency facilities, ceremonial locations, and at demonstrations and rallies. (October 27, 2021)
+ Formally created a program for alternatives to detention plus parole, resulting in “catch and release” for hundreds of thousands of aliens into the U.S. interior after they were encountered at the border. (November 2021)

2022:

+ ICE’s principal legal advisor issued a memorandum recommending termination of cases in immigration court and directing ICE Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) trial attorneys to prioritize their enforcement efforts. (Apr 3, 2022)
+ Reversed Trump-era “public charge rule,” allowing aliens who are likely to become a burden to taxpayers to receive immigration benefits – such as a visa, admission, or adjustment of status. (September 9, 2022)
+ Sued the State of Arizona to force the state to remove shipping containers placed to close gaps in the border wall. (December 13, 2022)

2023:

+ Announced that DACA recipients are now eligible for Obamacare benefits and Medicaid, giving taxpayer-funded healthcare to illegal aliens. (April 13, 2023)
Terminated use of Title 42 policy expulsion authority. (May 11, 2023)
+ Ended the DNA testing program used to verify that adults crossing the border with a child are actually related to the child. (July 7, 2023)
+ Sued the State of Texas to remove floating barriers placed in the Rio Grande River. (July 24, 2023)
+ Rebranded “Alternatives to Detention” as “Release and Reporting Management,” through which ICE provides social services “individualized to each participant’s needs” to illegal aliens. (August 2023)

2024:

+ Sued the State of Texas for enforcing a recently enacted state law allowing Texas judges and magistrates to order illegal aliens to return to their home country. (January 3, 2024)

There is no need for a new bill. Why doesn't potatoes head in chief just enforce the laws that are already in place? It's like not enforcing the speed limit in order to pass a new law with the same speed limit. Then complaining that we can't enforce the speed limit because we can't pass a new speed limit law.

Biden: - "You can't expect me to enforce laws already on the books. I need another one."
Biden: - "I can fix this if you just pass my immigration bill"
Sane Public: - "You have to be a complete idiot to buy this load of crap."

You seem to assume that the only factor that changed was Biden is POTUS now, versus Trump then. I think any reasonable person would see that there are a lot of other variables in there which are much more significant than who the POTUS is.

Here is an interesting article setting out the upside and downside of the approaches by both Trump and Biden.

The day Biden was elected a huge caravan of migrants started toward the southern border. I wonder why? 🤔

Why can't Biden enforce current immigration laws without funding Ukraine?

Kansas City says it WANTS Migrants to MOVE THERE with $15,000 'Choose Topeka' Campaign to Lure Border Crossers to the Dem-led city to fill 7,000 open jobs

A small American city is so desperate for workers it doesn't just want migrants to move there - it will pay them $15,000 to come.

Cities like New York, Chicago, and Denver are struggling to care for 100,000 migrants bussed in from Texas as up to 10,000 cross from Mexico every day.

But Topeka, the capital of Kansas, wishes a few of those buses would come its way to join its growing Hispanic community that makes up 17 per cent of the population.

The city has an unemployment rate of just 2.9 per cent, compared to the national 3.7, and 7,000 open jobs it can't fill from the ranks of its about 175,000 locals.

Topeka taxpayers fund half the incentive, and the employer puts up the rest.
