Don't see the part about him being better.I believe he’s much better than he was last year and will be fine. He will get the start game 1 next year so get used to it
LSU was a road game for what it's worth.I hate to say it, but if the Vols cannot learn how to play on the road and get a defense, we are going to lose a lot of games next year anyway—no matter who the QB is.
I've said it repeatedly. Milton has always had a gifted arm in terms of strength. He's also had a shot with 3 different coaching staffs only to fail at winning the starting job. I have to think that if the light were going to come on for him, it would have by now. What we saw last night didn't look all that different from when he started last year. JG had a decent arm, too, but he just never could put it together. Hope he proves me wrong, but I don't think Milton is the answer next season. He throws so damn hard and high often. Even when he’s accurate it’s like catching a Nolan Ryan fastball every time!
So is the thought he will be the starter next year.
Well, I tend to agree with Patrick. Regardless, while it's not rocket science, physical ability and time don't always result in a guy being a solid SEC qb. If that were always the formula, how does one explain JG? Milton may start by default because folks rave about how he looks in practice, but when the lights are on and the bullet are live, we'll see if he's made the progress necessary. I really, really am pulling for him because this league can be brutal on young QBs. I would hate to see TJ or Nico get thrown to the lions before they're ready. Some guys can be shaken and never get their confidence back. Better to bring those two along slowly if possible.Milton will be the starter next year. And because of Hendon’s injury, his starting job starts next week. He has 2 games and bowl practices to get ready for the offseason and starting next year. This ain’t rocket science

I think Milton makes pretty good reads most of the time (no one is perfect as VN demands) and he’s been more aggressive running the ball. The good news is we don’t have to wait until next year. Well, it’s not good news but as far as seeing what Milton has it is good. I believe he will do well but he’s following someone that was starting to grow to legend status so VN will be brutally critical of Milton isn’t perfect."Has not proven" while he hasn't been a starter in over 20+ games because of Hooker's emergence.
Milton starting 1 game into Heupel's install here is vastly different from him taking over starter due to Hooker's injury 2 offseasons and 22 games in between starts......
This notion we are getting the same Joe Milton we last saw as a starter is silly... And if you honestly believe that, can't wait to hear you thoughts on Heupel because that should be a glaring indictment on his coaching

Me too. He’s calm in the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield but will run when needed. And no one can cover WRs 50+ yards downfield. We’re good.He won't be as flashing as Hooker, but Milton is going to bring the power run to the offense that we don't have with Hooker. I'm very at ease with Milton next year.
Jackson has been injured for a few weeks and I do not know his health status. I would not call him a project. n He was impressive the few times he played, especially the game he was injured. He is a better runner than Milton and appeared to be more accurate on the short and medium passes. Milton appears to be the best 60 yard passer I have ever seen, but he still has problems throwing over the middle and the swing passes. He is timid runner, but is so strong that when he is hit, he can move the pile. He runs best up the middle. I had thought he had improved this year, but I am unsure that is the case. If Hooker is unable to play the rest of the year, I fear we may be in trouble unless we can develop a much better running game. USCe was supposed to be venerable to the run, but after the first series, our running game seemed to disappear.Jackson was a project QB from the onset.... I think he would have gotten more playing time if Hooker didn't go nuclear and Milton didn't stay on the team (transfer)...... Right now, Milton is QB1 and the transition QB to Nico....
I would have loved to seen Jackson more, but Hooker went crazy and Milton didn't transfer out.
Stats do not tell the whole story or even much of a story when you only have 8 attempts, but you believe 50% is good?
He has shown some signs of improvement.
Barring another transfer coming in ( which I would be fine with) , I dont see how he isn't starter next season.
2 years in the system, can stretch the field as much as any QB out there, appears to have learned to be more physical running the ball.
He has his issues but expecting Iamaleava to roll in as a starter from Day 1 is a stretch.
I wouldn't count out Tayven Jackson. The QB competition will be wide open. As it should be.
