Minneapolis wants to disband police

Right .. I believe there are stories and movies about when Chicago “ privatized “ the police for a while . Lots of people made lots of money . More people got the shaft .

I'm all for privatizing law enforcement, that would end qualified immunity and the amounts that can be awarded in lawsuits against the police.

Why would any company want that headache? You can get good policemen if you invest in them. But communities would rather invest in soccer fields

If someone can afford to take their kids out of public schools and put them in private schools they damn sure need to do it.

I've had kids in both. I don't stress over what the school teaches because I believe education begins at home and that McRib and I have more influence on our kids than the school system.

We used to hear a lot about Camden, NJ...for all the wrong reasons. Looks like the initiatives are really paying off. Crime reduced by 50% is an impressive stat.

New officers are required to knock on doors in the neighborhoods they patrol and introduce themselves and ask what needs to improve. They do pop up neighborhood cookouts and ice cream trucks. The police chief has said the residents own the streets and they are the first line of defense to keep drug dealers out.

I mean, it is the little and simple things that seem to work best. Almost common sense. It doesn't have to be a tense and combative relationship.

Right, I imagine the Sheriffs department is about to expand significantly.

Do these simpletons think they're just going to let it be the wild west?

Well when you abandon an entire police precinct and all a city to burn to the ground we arent really sure what to think at that point.

We are just very curious now, is all.

And it shouldn't be. Police should be held in some of the highest regards, loved by all, and trusted. Until they take some real action to combat corruption, incompetence, and cover ups, they don't deserve any of those things.

Let me make it 100% crytsal clear that I believe in the police and I sincerely appreciate everything they do. However, no one should be OK with the ridiculous things we see from the people sworn to protect and serve. It should be outrageous to all Americans.

It looks like a considerable handful of departments are actually doing something, and I appreciate and commend their tangible actions.

They’ve sent us a survey for next school year asking these questions. Basically what would it take to send your kid to school. Masks for teachers, masks for students, alternating weeks (home vs. in school learning), etc. It’s 100% in the works.
Easy answer. Just open the school and my kids will be there. There are no other requirements.

Plenty of places outside school to learn about religion. No need to clutter up what they need to be learning with that.

Go private if you want your kids to learn it
I agree for the most part but the government takes your money for schools and then denies you a choice in the matter, unless you want to pay twice.
