An end to traffic stops, street outreach teams, unionized sex workers and burglaries resolved by restorative justice: The vision of BLM activists for how to defund and replace traditional police
Who replaces the police? BLM activists call for officers to be replaced with social workers | Daily Mail Online
Among plans put forward by Black Lives Matter, MPD150 and other activists to replace police are:
- Mental health responders to attend mental health crisis in place of armed police (great, do these responders have weapons to deal with violent people and can they fight violent people wishing to do them and others harm. will they have handcuffs?)
- Street outreach teams, more shelters and affordable housing to help solve homelessness and stop the homeless from being criminalized (I support 100%, what will they do with those that refuse their help time and time again?)
- Traffic stops to be eliminated entirely, with traffic violations dealt with via. mail (so instead of one traffic stop with citations, they will have 100 citations sent by mail to pay? what will they do if they don't or can't pay? Go to jail?, What about DUIs? What about traffic stops used to stop felony suspects?)
- Community members to attend domestic violence calls, to help intervene and establish long-term safety for the individuals (HAHAHAHHA this the dumbest one on here, so your neighbors who hate you, maybe drunk, may be sleeping with your wife or want to, etc will intervene in domestic violence calls? Will they arrest themselves as required by law?)
- Specialized physical and emotional support for victims of sexual violence (Ok this is fine)
- Investing in prevention of sex trafficking to end economic and social conditions that lead to deeply rooted vulnerabilities (so pretty much stop gang activity, drug activity, all sex trafficking, and illegal immigration of sex trafficking. How do you do this without police?)
- The legalization of marijuana to stop incarceration for the 'harmless' drug (no one is incarcerated JUST for a little marijuana, but ok)
- Better handling of drug offences to stop 'criminalizing of communities of color' (how so? what does this mean?)
- Decriminalization of sex work and formation of an independent union to ensure individuals have insurance, child care and safety precautions (LMAO insurance, child care? for crack whores who are giving BJs for $5 because they are hooked on meth? How does this jive with the sex trafficking one?)
- Restorative justice (meetings between victim and offender) to be used to deal with property crimes such as theft and burglary (yes, i definitely think meeting with Bubba or Tyrone who carjacked you or did a home invasion face to face will definitely lead to them paying you back!)
