MLB Draft thread....SEC edition

I missed it, but we had another commit drafted. Bryant Harris was drafted in the 38th round by the Tigers.

rumor for Florida is that....

Kyle Tucker- OF. (#5- $4,188,700)
Jacob Woodford- RHP. (#39-$1,585,400)
Brady Singer- RHP. (#56-$1,091,200)
Thomas Szapucki- LHP. (#149-$355,500)

these guys are gone along with current Gators, Harrison Bader and Richie Martin.

There are potentially some others, but they feel pretty good about the rest of the recruiting class including India.

@KendallRogersD1: Had a great discussion with @dleech9 on some programs having more scholarships (need-based etc). Doesn’t see new rules on that anytime soon.

Boooooo!

CBS Reports that Everett turned down $2.5mm to attend Vandy. If true, that tops the $1.9mm Price turned down, and he will be among what could be the highest rated recruiting class in Vandy history, and that's with the four top picks signing.

great post 66, I wish the fly-bys saw the improvement in talent we have. Do we need to continue to improve, absolutely! Do we have a long way to go, absolutely! Everyone wants a quick fix this day and age and it can happen however it seldom does.

I'm cheering for Serrano but I think if we weren't fighting for twelfth in a fourteen team league then people would feel better about our future.

That's probably true but people also need to consider just how tuff our league is. SEC has 4 of 8 teams in CWS after having 6 teams make super regionals.

Serrano is clearly not going to win this battle by trying to convince in-state 18 year old boys to either not go pro or not sign with Vandy. Just ain't gonna happen. Vandy is to college baseball what Duke is to college basketball. Everett turned down $2.5 mil to go to Vandy, and Raby and Stone may be starting next to him next year.

Serrano is sitting between Vandy, South Carolina, UVa, North Carolina, Clemson and Louisville, all teams that make Omaha a regular part of their seasons. He's running out of time. He now doesn't have time to find unknown kids and make them into weekend starters.

He has no chance unless he goes west to the JUCO world this summer and convinces ace pitchers to not sign with Big West team, and guarantees them a starting SEC job.

I thought Marks and Cox were the only guys on this year's staff who were legit SEC starters. Marks is gone and Cox probably is gone, and all of the recruits who were drafted are probably signing. If he doesn't pull a recruiting rabbit out of his hat this summer, he could have the worst year in modern UT history.

Cox probably gone?????? Not to sure about that.......

Hey Mike, thoughts on Derek Mason entering his second year?

Pretty damning that you had to fire both coordinators and your strength coach in your first offseason. I like him a lot personally, but like Tennessee in baseball sec football is a lions den, an and when you start to slide it is really hard to stop. Fact is they could be better and not win four games.
