'24 MO DL Williams Nwaneri (Mizzou commit)

Apparently the OU staff had WN connect with terry abt how much of a family atmosphere OU is. Our Counter punch should be they’re so bad at developing DL talent their best DL on OU was a rotational piece on our DL who didn’t start, but 7 games. Also his coach was teammates with Heupel so his coach being a OU guy is a wash
What does Terry know about the atmosphere at OU? He's been there for 2 weeks.

We had better not get out bid by OU or freaking Missouri.
I doubt that happens if the staff really wants him that much. We need more members for the volunteer club to make sure it doesn’t happen though. Not sure if it’s an NCAA violation or not, but Danny White should either require season ticket buyers for every sport to pay the 60 bucks up front for a years subscription to the volunteer club or just take 60 bucks out of every donation they get and give it to the collective, and each amount goes directly to that sport. It would give us an additional 4.5M a year for football alone

Not a bad idea...

I don't know the legalities..but that would seem like a school directly paying players. Got to keep the delineation..IMO.
I’m sure there’s a way it could be done. They could probably put in their terms and agreements or whatever that part of their donation goes towards local or alumni owned businesses or program sponsors

I am Not expecting it to happen. But we have been led to believe we have an elite NIL collective. This is the type of recruit you flex that muscle with and back up the brinks truck.

Yeah instead of adjusting the marketing plan for Vol club or providing more value for the cost, UT should just force people to pay it. People love that.

I’m sure an overwhelming majority of season ticket holders would rather 60 bucks of their donation go towards landing better players than the university

Nwaneri had a great visit to OU. His coach at Lee’s Summit North is an OU guy. A top 100 teammate from last season is at OU now. Norman is much closer than Knoxville. They have a lot of momentum.

Also, uga has ‘stepped up’ again in their recruitment of Nwaneri. Think they are missing on an instate guy so they’re putting more juice here. They’ve had some recent success with DL to the NFL, but they don’t offer upfront NIL.

Drinkwitz is gonna pony up some big time NIL to try and lure him to Mizzou.

But, Nwaneri is coming to our big weekend. Garner and Heup are gonna pour it on with playing time and NIL. Gotta show him how he’ll flourish in our D. I like our chances. I think there is a special relationship with UT. If we can wash the OU visit high off him, a silent commitment next weekend isn’t out of the question. I think he likes UT that much.

No matter what happens, all the teams are gonna keep recruiting him til the ink is on the paper. Money is gonna be thrown at this kid and lots of promises from different schools and people. We need to continue to be that steady voice through it all.

As someone who did his undergrad at UT and taught for several years at OU, I just don’t see how anyone could choose college life in Norman over Knoxville.
Our coaches are better too.
Also, their uniforms are ugly and their stadium sucks.
I could go on…

Crimson is one of the ugliest color uniforms in college football. It is just a different shade of maroon. And yes I am biased.

I don't think a Venerables coached OU teams first year in the SEC is where you want to be. Lincoln Riley is a good coach and he knows OU has no place in the SEC.
Sorry but why would OU "have no place in the SEC"?

It's a historical program and a blueblood.

Absurd.

except, its going to be more than 60 bucks, and thats an extra 60, not just 60 from what they are already paying, and lastly if they already wanted to donate they would be.

Not trying to be demeaning, but the thought of any big organization like the UT Athletic Dept giving away money to benefit the players is fantasy. These AD’s are the guys who created and support the NCAA. They are pretty much always self serving.

They will have good years but to think they have a cake walk to 11-1 in no longer the case. Riley knew it and went to where this was true. Now they have a coach who has struggled beating teams with inferior talent and he's going to be playing teams with equal or more talent. Venerables won't coach his team to a 8 win regular season in the SEC.

When is he taking his official visit. His timeline on 247 says he's visiting OU on the 16th, but I thought he was coming here.

UGA "don't offer upfront NIL"? What's the source on that?
