I agree Venables has shown nothing as a head coach but he's got an excellent record of putting DL in the league as a DC. If this kid isn't coming here, we want him in Norman rather than with Kirby.

No it’s not mind boggling. UGA are back to back NCs. Have out tons of defensive players in the NFL as high draft picks. We aren’t there yet. It’s simple.

But wait, Wiltfong is just suffering from BVS right? We did the best we could.

You go after who you can get. Not saying we couldn't get Nwaneri but Kam Franklin is up there on the board too and that's who we feel more confident in so we focused resources on getting him in the boat. I think someone else said something similar on here as well. A DL class of Franklin, Heard, Gentle, Lindstrom, and Ross/Okoye is still a good group

Do you worry that we’re not in the mix for any big 300+ lb. Omari Thomas type DTs or do you think that’s just a product of what Garner and Banks want?

Not really to be honest. The staff has moved away from the nose tackle position and wants athletic IDLs moving forward. Where do you put Kam and Hobbs? You could bulk them up and move them inside. Heard is going to start on the DL but obviously is very raw. All lineman unless they just have a bunch of bad weight are usually going to be a little lighter anyway and bulk up when they get to college with a good strength staff. Duncan and Robinson should bulk up and play the inside. I like Weathersby inside some too. So we'll see but yeah I wouldn't be too worried about it right now

I think Heard ends up as a LT. His rare stature/athleticism would be wasted in this defense, IMO. But he could make bank as an NFL LT one day.

I think Hobbs and Kam will ultimately play inside. Garner has done this before. Easier too put on good weight than lose bad. GBO!

In this case, it’s 5 hours closer to home than Knoxville, and his HS teammates go there.

Haven't watched him for obvious reasons but he definitely seems to have the size and athleticism. Might make more sense to put him on the OL with the size. Might try to catch a game this fall of him just to see him play

I definitely don't want him at UGA. Venables seems too much like Pruitt to me with his track record thus far. I do realize Nwaneri isn't as familiar with that scenario as us though. This is More me trying to put myself in this recruit's shoes.

I mean he’d be nice to have but the way we have been recruiting the DL… it’s not really a big concern. Still in it for multiple dudes that are highly ranked.

Venables walked into an empty cupboard on both sides of the ball. I think he will turn OU around and be infinitely better than Pruitt. He has been considered the best defensive kijd in football for. Long time.

Would hate to see him at Georgia. That said our Dline recruiting looks good this year. If CRG gets talent and depth along the Dline I’m not betting against him having one of it not the best in the conference

I get what you're saying, but those exact words were used to describe Pruitt. And we all saw how that turned out. I don't get that feeling with Venables at all. He has a long way to go to even be considered a good head coach.
