Mo permanently ineligible

Can I get some cheese with all the whining in this thread..

All mo had to do was follow the rules plus this is over like a few hundred dollars.. Did that really make a big diff in his life???

No one is excusing Mo, we're just pissed that Alabubba gets special treatment. It's sickening.

The NCAA didn't make Mo take the money

I know they are inconsistent, but don't put yourself in that place. Mo can't blame anyone but himself

That's true, can't argue with your point.

It just sucks that Couch is permanently ineligible, while Giggity Giggity Clinton-Trix got a measly 2 game suspension.

So what are our chances of winning the appeal? Is there a history of sanctions like this being overturned?

The NCAA has actually avoided using precedence like a toothbrush with herpes.

While it's good enough for judicial systems around the world, the NCAA is too good for fairness I guess.

To answer your question, who knows what they will do.

Hey kids, If you ever make a mistake and get caught, NEVER be a Man and admit it or apologize for your wrong doings!! Instead, lie your a$$ off and deny everything!!! Just like Johnny Douche-Nozzle!!
This lesson was brought to you by the NCAA and the letter "F"

gets it.

NCAA rules Maurice Couch permanently ineligible » GoVolsXtra

BS!! If he played for Bama he would be one the field.

Why in the world would you trust a deli in tuskalooser for money transfers? So he misses the next 5 games...he is a senior anyways. Hello 6-7th round, maybe.

The issue really is not whether Couch should be ineligible or not. He is by the rules ineligible and the NCAA has every right to end his eligibility as a College Football Player.

The issue is the inconsistency in their rulings of similar type offenses of which the punishment varies to extremes.

As a Governing body you would expect consistency across the board for these type offenses. This is where I could see some sort of lawsuit going forward challenging the inconsistency of rulings and the damages to not only the players but also to the universities and perhaps some others.

For example, Mo Couch has been damaged possibility by millions because he was determined ineligible for the entire season by the NCAA. Therefore his draft stock has plummeted. In contrast, other College athletes, who have committed similar type offenses were only suspended for one game, two games or even just a half. They have been able to retain their draft stock.

To further it along, the universities may be financially damaged because it maybe the difference in a BCS appearance or no bowl appearance.

Rules are rules but they should be applied across the board equally. So does the NCAA discriminate when they cherry pick the punishment for like offenses? Does this violate Anti-Trust Laws? Can their inconsistencies be shown? Are parties harmed/damaged by the failure of the NCAA to administer fair and equal punishment for similar type offenses?

Furthermore, their lack of due diligence and timely processing of any matter does not protect the players or the universities they govern.

Should players be allow to play during the appeals process because of the length of time taken by the NCAA to rule or properly evaluate? Maybe a two game suspension immediately and then a player can play until the final ruling. This way the player does not get penalized because the NCAA cannot process a case in a timely manner.

What happens if a player sits through a suspension and it is determined he is innocent? Why are some cases thoroughly investigated and others are not? Does an Article in a blog or sports magazine serve as an investigation?

I don't know but it seems to me that the NCAA cherry picks its victims and rulings. No Consistency. They don't seem to care about speed nor do they perform due diligence in their duties. Malicious intent, willful negligence, or incompetence. Seems to me all three apply.

Manizel's legal team seemed to backed the NCAA off when they threatened to take their case to full tilt in court. I don't think the NCAA wanted the exposure.

Just food for thought.

After hearing this I have to change my stance on the whole Alabama are cheaters thing. I originally thought that Saban and them were not cheaters but now I have seen the light. Forgive me vol faithful I was wrong. They are cheaters.

Manziel can sign autographs, get paid and only get a one half game suspension. Dix takes money from a coach and only gets a 2 game suspension. For those of you saying he did wrong and knew better, maybe he did but the suspension is unreasonably harsh. Make the fines and suspensions fair and I have no issue.

Wish UT would take this to court but their Compliance Department seems too compliant.

It's only a matter of time until this selective enforcement becomes litigious. Manziel has shown how effective legal threats can be. That said, while UT is appealing, it seems like the university has been willing to cut Mo free. Clearly, Mo hasn't benefited from legal advice or he would have stopped tweeting.

So let me get this straight: Couch takes money, gets suspended, can't come back at all.

That's fine, but what about the kids from Alabama and Miss State that took money from this same guy.

And yes, the guy could be classified as a booster if he graduated from UA.

They can't play college ball either, of course they are in the NFL anyway just like Bray. Mo is the only player, in this case, that is still in college, so he's the only one they have any say over. IMO the reason Ha Ha wasn't suspended longer than he was is because he'd already paid back the loan before it was even discovered.

I would think, former and current players should take this to court as a class action or anti trust.

Anytime you have damages that could be results of improper administration of rules in which there is zero consistency in rulings, unreasonable due process, and without thorough investigation causing a potential financial loss due to incompetence.

I would think you might throw a dart at the board and see where it lands.

The NCAA is a business and they should be held to business practices and standards. Five and Dimes manage their operations better than this. If you owned a business and ran it like this you would be sued.

This is my point exactly....The NCAA should rule on the fact that he took money.

It makes no difference that ha ha paid it back. He violated the rule the moment he accepted the money and whether he paid it back or not is irrelevant.

Mo was dumb
Mo took cash
Mo can't play no more

It's all Mo's fault
Not the NCAA's

Mo made a terrible decision.
He now has to live with it.
He should be disqualified.
If he were at another school, all the people downing the NCAA would be praising it

NCAA rulings are pushing themselves off the cliff. With the ruling about Miami, it will not be long before a new league is formed......... without the NCAA. It is a voluntary institution after all.

They have let student athletes pay money back and play.

Hell they let 5 OSU players play in Natl Chp game.
