You are out of your mind if you think that a five star receiver would be ok only receiving $2500 even before the NIL is signed. Kids get that on visits let alone to sign with a school.I am a Mizzou fan and am only responding to try to clarify some of the questions about the new Missouri NIL law. Yes, it is theoretically possible for an incoming HS senior someone to sign attendance papers in September, collect money, and then sign an LOI with a different school in December. It may even happen at some point, though IMO, it's not very likely. It is also true that the law says the NIL can't be contingent on someone participating in athletics, though it can be contingent on attendin classes. The prevailing thought is that companies offering NIL will have more than one option to mostly protect themselves. Most likely, a limited amount of money will be paid before the LOI is signed. For example, if a kid was being offered $100,000, he might only receive $2,500 (or some other amount) before the LOI is signed. I doubt if anyone will be paying big amounts. There were multiple legal people working on the wording of this law so I assume that the Ts have been crossed and the Is have been dotted.
Also, as several have stated, this only applies to Missouri residents. Missouri has no control over residents of other states. So the advantage if only for those in the home state. I assume other states will be passing similar laws for their own student-athletes. Barring, federal intervention, possible but not likely IMO, every school whose state has a similar law will have a big advantage in keeping their own state's recruits home.
As far as Ryan Wingo, there have been rumors that he might move up his scheduled December 20th commitment date, though they have not been confirmed by the family, so it's anyone's guess. They may be waiting to see what doing so earlier would mean financially IF he thinks uphe wants to commit to Mizzou. If not, obviously there will probably be no reason for him to move it up. Peace and out.
Same.Exactly. Hopefully we get Mikell
If wingo does choose mizz, I wonder who is left on the wr board besides Mikell. I feel getting 3 hs wr will a good number and add in a transfer. 2 wr in this class doesnt feel like enough for the amount of wr we have leaving after this seasonSame.
Not really worried about a WR honestly but it’s always nice to add a five star on paper. As far as our board I feel the staff probably favored Jefferson over Wingo but wanted both. Mikell isnt a real step down imo either. This offense will make whatever wr is on the field be open and put up video game numbers.
Why not collect 4 to 5 months of free money and then switch commitments at the last minute? We all knew that one girl in High School who would wait and break up with her boyfriend immediately after Christmas or Valentines Day and keep the gifts. If Missouri wants to light a pile of money on fire, let em
I really think it’s not a must bc of just how desirable we are as a portal location for the position. It would definitely be nice thoughIf wingo does choose mizz, I wonder who is left on the wr board besides Mikell. Your last draft wr was last drafted in. . . 2018You might want to read what I said again. I clearly stated this was simply an example and in no way was saying what a specific amount would be. Also, it wouldn't be $2,500, it would be $10,000 because the recruit would be drawing it for four months. But again, this was an example. The point remains, that whatever the total amount is, the bulk of it won't be paid until the LOI is signed. There are other ways to make it difficult for someone to renege and go to a different school. For example, requiring personal appearances is legal within the NIL rules. So theoretically, a recruit could be required to appear somewhere in Columbia, MO once per month, twice per month, or whatever. That would be a both a bit awkward and difficult for a player from another school. Also, as I said, at some point there may well be someone who does it, it's also safe to say it won't be a good look for the recruit and will be rare.
s.wiltfongWe've been talking about Missouri's rise with five-star receiver Ryan Wingo, and the Tigers have certainly been on the move. And while I've said I find myself close to predicting Missouri there because of the momentum they've gained, when you talk to sources around the family and around Texas, it should be reiterated the Longhorns are in great position and so is Tennessee. So while Wingo may be closing in on a decision, those are three programs that still have a great chance to land the St. Louis (Mo.) University standout.

Not sure how that fits into his plans to announce in December but if it’s the word on the street…according to Mizzou's mod Wingo is going to announce between Texas and Missouri next week. Lets hope that is false as Uncle Austin had us as the leaders last week. I know that NIL Law has become a problem though
