More Important Win: Florida or Bama?

I'll go out on a limb here and say the division isn't going to happen this year for the Vols. Being fairly certain of that a win against Bama would be more important. I see your point though.
I agree that the division isn't really in play for this year. Still an early season win against UF (or UGA the week before) would do wonders for this team's confidence. OTOH three straight early season losses could be extremely deflating to morale.

Anyone who doesn't say Alabama, knows nothing about football or Tennessee.

The division break up of east and west makes FL more important.

A loss to FL means they have to lose twice for us to jump them and be sec east champs.

a loss to bama is really just a loss and we still control our fate if its our only loss.

Vol fans know too well of how it feels to keep gettin' our asses kicked by Florida, it needs to stop...Now! :)

If you feel this way, i won't question your football IQ or your love for Tennessee.

UF - while I hate Alabama (and their cheatin' - NCAA look the other way - ways)...it has to be UF.

We have been beaten basically by one or two plays in each game we've lost to them. How you say? Generally it is a fumble on our part, a punt return for a TD on their part, a read option where the back/QB gets an 80 yard run, etc.

Its always "a" play or two that gets us. When it happens, you can almost hear the UT players...."Here we go again".

Whoever makes the biggest play in the 3rd quarter of the UT/UF game generally wins. (I say generally b/c some of the games have been blowouts.)

My advice to the team #118 (after having watched the Vols since 1974) is to let the last play be the last play. Forget it and steel yourself for the remainder of the game.

Try living next to gator ville for a long time and being a Vols fan a very long time and tell me that. Bama may be old school rival but F-ing Florida is the new one!!!

It's not the result of a play or two that beats UT when we play, it's UT's reaction to that play that dooms them.

For this year, which is the more important win? Now, don't get me wrong, I fully realize that Bama would be the bigger and more unexpected win. However, they have been beating everyone and will likely continue to do so for a while. People don't see that as an even match and don't expect us to win that one any time soon. Other than a few years with Tebow, they don't hover around the top three in the nation every year like Bama does either. Florida, though, seems to always be the monkey on Tennessee's back. Florida has beaten us nine years in a row with different coaches. Bama has beaten us seven years in a row with the same coach. People perceive Saban as the mastermind that he is, but I think they see Florida as a school we just can't ever seem to beat or get the better of. We completely owned Bama from 1995 to 2006, losing only once. Florida has beaten us 22 out of the last 28 times we have played them. I think Florida is the more important win for this season. What say you, VolNation?

I hate Florida more than I hate cancer or Neo-Nazis or the DMV, but Bama would easily be the bigger win. Bama is a significantly better team that Florida right now and beating them would be a massive victory.

I say Florida at this point simply bc it is the more realistic matchup this season. Part of the success I hope we are building is winning games you can win and stealing one or two you shouldn't. Beating either will be very tough this season, but I fully expect to beat both in 2016.

Winning either is extremely important to this program. Doubt one is more important than the other.
