Most physically painful thing you have ever experienced?

I had a bottle of sweet oil, next to a bottle of turpentine, the labels were flipped.

I had a earache, went to put sweet oil in my ear instead it was turpentine, most crippling pain ever

Somebody play a cruel joke on you by switching labels?

Already had back surgery once. right now i have another herniated disk and bone fragments putting pressure on the sciatic nerve that runs down my left leg. Again. Its like having an abscessed tooth except my entire left leg. Cant walk more than a few feet at a time and pain meds wont even touch it.
I have broken both legs and an arm twice and had a couple hundred stitches in 37 years of life. Not even close to this.

Take care of your backs guys. It can ruin your life.

I had Back surgery in 2007 for the same thing. The surgery took care of the leg pain, but man the arthritis in my lower back is a killer on some days. But I'll take the arthritis over the constant leg pain.

Just went to the doctor a couple weeks ago for sciatica symptoms. Lower back is pretty much always a little sore and tight but it started creeping into my butt and leg. It's not a constant pain but sometimes the leg feels like it's on fire. X rays looked great so he's wanting to hold off on an MRI but it's not getting better.

Good luck. Mine started in December with a little pain, and sometimes I could go a few days pain free. But by April, I couldn't walk 20 yards without pain. I tried resting it, and the pain shots(biggest waste of time). I was terrified of having back surgery, but it was the best decision I made. no leg pain for 7 years now.

Have you gone to a chiropractor ? I didn't have a good experience, but I know some swear by them.

No I haven't but I asked the doctor about it. He wasn't thrilled about the idea but he said I could try and just suggested not signing on for extended treatment. He said maybe 6-8 weeks and see if it might help then just go as needed. I haven't actively pursued going yet though.

That's exactly what my doctor said. Good luck. My advice is to talk to friends/family who might be going through the same thing. That's how I found my ortho Dr.

My girlfriend's brother had disc surgery a few months ago but it was crippling him. The doctor is putting of an MRI because he's almost positive it isn't a disc issue and from the x rays I believe him. I've been kinda slack on my gym time lately so I'm gonna get back in the gym regular and see if that might help. I asked if it may be a circulation thing because it's more I'm my leg than my back but he brushed that off. We'll see. It's bearable right now.

This thread I found interesting, but I didn't really have anything to contribute.

Feeling left out, I somehow got kidney stones, with one of them deciding to descend this morning.

If anybody else nominated kidney stones on the move, then hell yes I vote for that one.

p.s. I had heard they were painful, but didn't know about all the puking that goes with it.

Ouch how old are you?

Am 59. Main factors in me getting kidney stone(s) were probably the mineral supplements I was taking Cal/Mag/zinc, and just wasn't making myself drink a lot of water, though I knew better than that.

Kidney stones without a doubt. I've had froth elbows fractured, hand broken, severe sprains and tears to my ankles and knees but nothing compares to the kidney stone pain. Constantly feeling like someone is stabbing you in the lower back, and there's no tuning out that pain. Only thing I can do is drink as much beer as I can in hopes of passing it.

When I was maybe 5-6 years old I had gotten out of the passenger side of my dad's truck, 80's model, and I had my hand inside the door to grab and then push it closed. Dad decides to lay across the bench and pull it shut right about the same time. Almost lost two fingers. I can remember being unable to even speak for clamping down my jaws because of how bad it felt.

Kidney stones, hands down. I basically spent majority of the time wanting to crawl under a rock and die.

I just remember going to the ER and everyone taking their sweet time to help me. I think once I started projectile vomiting and cursing every person in sight they started to get a little faster with the iv and morphine.

I've been there. I think that they suspect patients claiming kidney stone attacks to be faking to get the pain pill prescription.

I also nominate kidney stones. I had 4 of them by the age of 30. Hereditary from my Dad. In high school I broke my lower back L4 compression fracture doing squats in a competition. 465 lbs and I made the lift :) Then about 5 years ago I had a severely herniated disc in my neck that made it impossible to live day-to-day. Anything that caused the simplest strain(taking a crap being the most excruciating thing...I know TMI) caused searing hot stabbing pain through my entire middle back and down my spine. The weird thing is I was never technically injured, it just started hurting and it took it a couple of weeks before it became so unbearable I had to do something about it. I had an MRI done on a Friday and it was bad enough that my future surgeon called me from Augusta National the following day to warn me to do absolutely nothing and if I felt numbness in my arms to go to the ER and tell them he sent me. He said that the damage he saw in my cervical area was similar to a very severe car accident or bad football injury. In and out of the hospital in 5 hours fixed up almost as good as new complete with cadaver bones and a bunch of metal in my neck. So, kidney stones are number one due to intensity and consistent duration on the pain scale. The nerve pain from the herniated disc I had to deal with for a couple of months before I really got any relief so it's right up there due to it's crippling effect and duration. Pain sucks.

So kidney stones sound like the unanimous winner.. Man.. I really hope I never get them.

If you live in the south stay away from the tap water. I also quit drinking everything but bottled water and beer. It's good to keep your kidneys flushed.

I also have had no kidney stones since I switched to bottled water. This is excellent advice! :hi:

It costs more but well worth not having stones. It helped me to quit drinking sugary soft drinks and caffeine also.

I don't think people understand how addictive caffeine is. I can mess up and drink one Pepsi and have a severe headache from caffeine withdrawal the next day or so.

As a guy that has drank pop for most of my life I do. Stop drinking pop for a long period of time is hard. Getting away and quitting anything your addicted to is hard.

Back in 2012 I in a dorm room I was unwise enough with no training to think I could escape a sleeper hold from a girl who was trained I think by a mma to use it.
She jumped on my back and put me in the sleeper hold, I moved around a lot which makes you lose oxygen faster, I felt like there was a silverback gorilla pressing down on my throat, felt light headed, also vision was going blurry like you get before passing out, somehow I managed to actually get her on my side and tried grabbing for her arms but not wanting to endure the horrid pain I tapped out I imagine not long before a blackout.

I made the switch to bottled water after I moved to a place that has some funky well water. It's pretty much all I drink through the day now.
