Most underrated Vol of the modern era?

Michael Munoz. It's a shame he never got drafted, but Anthony was on Sirius the other day and said his son is doing quite well for himself these days.

I suppose "underrated" should have been defined at the beginning. Making to the pros (Foster, Carter, McDaniel, Wilson, Garner, Stewart, Colquit, etc. etc. etc.) were all rated high enough in college to get drafted in the pros. They hardly qualify in my opinion for "underrated"; perhaps for "favorite players".

So who would you choose as the most underrated Vol of the modern era (Majors till now)? By "underrated" I mean the guys who contributed the most but don't get talked about much or have stuff named after them.

This occurred to me after overhearing a discussion that included the name Peerless Price. He would probably be my choice. Maybe also the RB-trifecta of Garner, Little Man & Aaron Hayden from the 90's.

Price was good ... was also about the biggest DB around.. was there w him, arrogant (expletive of your choosing) ... so I dont exactly care for him.

I'll make the case for my screen name. Charlie Garner carried the ball 159 times for 1161 yards during his senior year, 1993. That's 7.3 yards PER CARRY, for the entire freaking season. And because he shared carries that year with Little Man Stewart and Aaron Hayden, people just don't realize how amazing an accomplishment it was. To put it in historical VOL perspective, there are only 2 other backs that have averaged over 7 yards per carry for a season: Beattie Feathers in 1931 (7.2 yds. per) and Hank Lauricella in 1951 (7.9 yds. per), and they're not modern era guys, so take it for what it's worth.

And if anyone remembers watching him, he was like a shorter, more powerful Cordarrelle Patterson. He faked defenders out of their jocks every time he touched the ball. Truly awesome.

Was waiting for that name. Loved watching Charlie at UT and in the pros. Great back for three NFL teams. He always seemed to get lost in the shuffle college and pro.

Underrated guys I remember:
Bill Duff
Doug Furnas
Chris Mims
Jeff Powell
Chris White
Todd Kelly

Jason Swain mister dependable, had other options but when a big play was needed he delivered.

How about Tony Thompson? That kid stepped up big time when the legendary Chuck Webb went down to injury. How quickly we forget.

Based on that - Chris White. Amazingly productive out of nowhere in 1985 and was key to that SEC championship season and Sugar Bowl win over Miami.

Chris White was a nice player! So was Charles Davis, Dale Jones, Marc Hovanic, Jeff Powell, Daryl Dickey, Eric Swanson!! That 85 team had some players!

Little Man Stewart. He shared carries with two other backs his whole career and still broke the UT all-time rushing record. Senior Bowl MVP. 5 TDs in one game for the Jags. Etc.
