'24 MS DL Kamarion Franklin (Ole Miss commit)

I love Heupel. But this doesn’t make sense. Especially IF the rumors about Nico were true (not saying they are). Why not spend for some big time defensive players if you know NIL could get them? Especially when that’s the side of the ball you need the most help on? You don’t think Garner would love to have guys like Franklin and Nwaneri???

Garner wants guys that WANTS to be coached.

Not just someone looking for a pay day.

Some kids don’t like Rodney garners style of coaching anymore. Some want to be coddled and told how great they are all the time. Walter Nolan is a prime example, he didn’t like garner and was hesitant about his tough love attitude. No amount of money would have changed that. Franklin was always looking for a pay day, nothing more nothing less. Don’t care what his comments say nil is the only reason for his desired location

To YOU. It doesn't make sense.

You're seriously going to compare an interior D-lineman that needs to add more muscle to
the # 1 ranked player and QB from the year before?? Sure he's going to be a really good maybe great DT, but will he put points on the board?

- We play up to 11 Dlineman throughout the game. ONE QB.
- Even if it were Ndomokin Suh, we rotate DTs, and he wouldn't play as many snaps as Nico.

Yet you compare their recruitment because of what? Star rankings???

This is what I mean, when I say you ask the dumbest questions...

Absolutely it "makes sense". You aren't involved in commodities or any kind of competitive bid business, are you?

You literally MUST do what they're doing even if you think there are short term costs. You can "buy" a position once in a while like they did with Nico. While we have no personal insights into why they did it... it isn't that hard to guess at the possibilities.

You bid what you think the commodity is worth and not a dime more. If someone else overpays... you win. They've spent money on one thing and cannot compete with you on the next.

Franklin and Nwaneri have great potential. But there are others that won't cost more than they are worth.

If everyone else you are forced to bid on after are inferior players (not saying that, just a hypothetical) to Nwaneri and Franklin, and you missed on the A list players and now can only bid on B list ones, is that really better even though you didn't overpay? You are having to settle and now not only did you miss but you have to play against the A list player you missed on with your B listers.

I'm not in the competitive bid business so this just a question I have based on your scenario.

he spends based on his evaluations, not recruiting service evaluations. There is a roster of players getting money, not just recruits. all has to be managed for many reasons not just "getting players".

Hugh Freeze recruiting this well before they play even a single snap of Auburn football under his tenure is wild. Guess he has been able to rally the boosters.
Why is it wild? Just curious. He can sell successes at Ole Miss, and Liberty. We all know he's a used car salesman. But can actually coach, and scheme.

Auburn has perfected the dirty program. This was a perfect marriage. Remember that before divisions, they were one if our fiercest rivals. Them landing Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams was a huge deal, and really catalyzed the pendulum swing to our glut. I think. Er it was the signalling of the beginning of the end.

Anyone thinking them being good 'because they'll take away cruits from GA and Bama,' needs to re think that. That may be true, but that sword cuts both ways.

They basically spent the first 18 months of NIL on the sideline bleeding Harsin dry. They are going to spend 2 classes worth of NIL on this one class.

I’ve been worried about this Auburn run for a while TBH, knew it would get us on at least one or two players. Auburn isn’t Miami either. It’s a high quality SEC program so don’t blame the kids going there for 2x what any other equivalent program is offering I also don’t blame other programs for not matching who have been handling NIL consistently the last 2 years.
