Not only did Foley hire Meyer, he also gave Zook the hook during the season to get a head start on the hiring process. None of this is new to Foley.

Bernie Machen was Utah's president before becoming UF's president in 2004.

Meyer's relationship with Machen was a huge factor in Meyer taking the UF job instead of his "dream job" at Notre Dame.
