Muschamp fired

We had better start trying to lock down Azzanni and Thigpen -- I think they'll be targeted as potential assistants at UF for their recruiting efforts alone.

I care about 2 things currently us locking down a bowl victory and then rewarding our staff, Florida could bring in CBS or even Coach Shanahan and I will care in January.

I think the NFL old coach experiment in college has faltered some and after the Monte Kiffin experiment a lot of AD are weary of having older guys who MIGHT be great coaches but not a lot of experience on the recruiting trail.

Let's face it, he was a douche canoe.

I hope they hire Rich Rod or Charlie Wies, as they suck too. Actually, a prisoner exchange between Brady Hoke and MucusChump would suit me fine.

Me personally, I would go after Patterson, or Helfrich OC. If you want to play it safe, hire the current Ark State coach, that position is a gold mine (Malzahn, Freeze, and someone else).

Is that Hudspeth at Arkansas St? I think he'll get a look from UF for sure. Not sure he's high-profile enough for them though.

No he's at Louisiana Lafayette. If Mullen leaves, Hudspeth will be the new coach at Miss State within the hour.

My guess would be Chad Morris or Auburn's OC. Can you imagine either one of them with all the talent the State of Florida has. Would be killers.

Helfrich is the Oregon coach and he's probably not going to be available. Rich Rod would be a good hire for them.

A really interesting take on the firing from a Texas fan, noting the lessons to be learned from it. Some parallels with our situation as well, particularly the importance of finding the right quarterback. Also some great shots at Urban Meyer (sample):

Urban Meyer's Legacy. Urban Meyer is probably the best coach in college football. He's also an amoral mercenary, if not an outright charlatan, when he and the media start peddling his St. Urban shtick. A Bill McCartney redux. He quit Florida when he fully realized the number of ferals, mental midgets, sociopaths and well, actual murderers (alleged), he'd assembled in Gainesville. Coaching MS-13 isn't much fun. So he quit to concentrate on family and recover from stress (he created for himself - that part is always omitted). Only to immediately take the next top ten job where he could start anew while painting himself as Ohio State's reformer. Brilliant.

Maybe
Thomas Goldkamp 247 via Vip chat.

Graham will take the job if offered. He told one of our west coast guys weeks ago after Mizzou he wanted it. Don't post that anywhere, but it'll be in our stuff once search officially opens."

HG do you really think Graham told a 247 reporter he'd take another job?

He may be willing to leave, although that contradicts everything he said as to why he took the ASU job, but I find it extremely hard to believe he would discuss his willingness to leave to a reporter. Sounds like Goldkamp may be preparing to pull a "told you so" if Graham does in fact take it and act like he scooped the news.

This. Hudspeth is a Miss guy with ties to State. I told my father this last week. We were discussing potential coaching dominos and I said the only sure thing is Hudspeth will be introduced as MSU coach if Mullen were to ever leave.

I don't think he'll garner the attention of UF unless they get a lot of "no thank you's" but he'll be coaching in the SEC sooner than later.

This is Graham we are talking about. He signed an extension at Tulsa the same week he bolted for next gig. He may be putting it out there for a pay raise.

This is a good thing. Especially for the East. We need Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Missouri competing. Not just fielding a team. I'm tired of the West getting all the attention. Its time for the East to rise again. I hope they make a great hire. Butch will get his recruits I have no doubt. Go Vols.

No offense, but I hope they hire another Doug Dickey.

Respected coach that never gets it done.

Wouldn't bother me at all if we are the only good team in the East.

Muschump was very bad, but he owned Jones.

Whomever they get might run the streak to 20 in a row.
