My buddy has DM'ed the Rivals writer for La Tech (interesting response)

I am going to go out on a limb and say the coaching pipeline from La.Tech has been permanently sealed. If Hart talked to him it was one of the mandatory interviews which can be done by phone.

Unfortunately, "we could do a lot worse than" or "he is better than Dooley" seems to be the new battle cry for Vol fans regarding this coaching search.

Not surprising, considering all the pride we take in moral victories now.

I couldn't agree more, any proven coach on any list is met with "oh he ain't leaving" or some other negativity. Maybe Haney really knows his stuff, because his list of losers seems to fit right in with the feeling of "we could do worse".

Hart would have to leave town like Kiffin. In the dark of the night. Even then I don't know if he'd make it out

I love all the overreaction to these nonsense threads. It's like we have so much pent up frustration that we unload on these easy targets. Hart knows (knew) he needed a big name...no worries.

Who is hartwould?

The assumed name he goes under as he enters police protection for making such a dumbass decision.

If Hart hires this loser, that will confirm what I always thought - that he is a plant hellbent on destroying our great institution. If we hire Sonny Dooley, then the destruction of UT football is complete. Maybe we can get the black curtain out of Thompson-Boling arena and drape the upper deck if this happens.

Lost to San Jose last night. What was the overall record of Hart's 'Plan B's' this weekend?

Just imagine the uproar if Hart hired Sonny Dykes and he went 9-4 next year. Maybe he goes 10-3 the following year. 12-1 in year 3. The idea of hiring a guy for 2.25 million would have been a great decision in the long run. I'm not saying he would be my top choice, but dishing out 5 million plus does not guarantee SEC titles.

He hires this guy and it will cost more than 2.25!!! The stadium will be half full!

I doubt it. Most true fans will support a coach until he proves he can not get the job done. Dooley had 80-90,000 showing up in his 3rd losing season. I have little doubt Dykes would be given support as long as his team looked the part of an SEC contender.

Why? Considering nearly everyone on this board practically jumped to support the hire of Dooley and to make excuses for hiring a guy coming off a 4-8 record in the WAC. Instead, we get a guy who has taken a lousy mid major into the top 25 and you dudes want to burn stuff then? Oh Vol fans, I'll never understand the lot of you.
Dooley was shoved down our throats and Vol fans do what we do...we got onboard and supported our team the best we could.

This time is different. We have the opportunity to review the possible hires and, although we have little to no influence on who UT hires, we can express our preferences. Do you honestly think the fan base would have chosen Dooley?

My friend has lived in Ruston, and him and Jonathan Ford have known each other for awhile while my friend worked as an intern for a sports station there.

Anyways, here is the screen cap my friend emailed to me..

We are not hiring Dykes. Hart wont have to worry about quitting he would be fired over hiring Dykes, Petrino, Golden and any assistants without HC experience. Dykes will get hired by somebody just not UT if Hart knows whats good for him.

I give this about a .000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance of happening. And that's being generous.
