'25 NC OT David Sanders (Tennessee commit)

You mean as true freshmen with a combined 3 starts under a completely different system? Lol.
And every OL Friend coached in THREE SEASONS showed progress? How about All-Pro level Trey Smith, who had to consult with an OL guru in Dallas to unlearn the bad form and habits he developed at UT? Mays and Spraggins were good to go tho. 😏 Does your body synthesize it’s own meth?

Just admit you made a dumb statement and move on. They barely played under the previous regime.

It’s all individual opinion based. Keep pretending otherwise. I’ll resort to my old standby, no OL coach OUTRECRUITS the level of their program. Sam Pittman, Messiah of Big Uglies didn’t haul in waves of five stars BEFORE UGA or afterwards. You can either coach OL or not. Recruiting is how good your program is. King keeps repeating his “insider” BOND refrain, but it’s steroided OPINION. Give me an OL he’s coached (besides Mincey) who’s felt cheated from the experience and I’ll lean towards agreeing. We’re down to Heupel trusting him from the beginning of his HC legacy and relative nobodies on a message board telling him he’s stupid.
Of course. I haven't been overtly negative about GE. I just feel like we are recruiting with the big boys basically at every other position, and losing Sanders feels different (if it happens). The dude was pretty much on board as soon as GMAC committed. The level of this program certainly used to be at the peak for OL. Pittman was here under Dooley who basically thought that it was malpractice to recruit OL.

This guy is a vol

He not bolting. Keep the faith.

Exactly.

Yall quit panicking like women.

Sanders is a VOL until he says that he isn't. Period. So what if he visits the buckeyes ?Guess who is gonna get beat in the Big10 championship probably...and definitely by an SEC team in the playoffs? The buckeyes. Screw them.

Lets wait and see whats really going on before we panic. Tennessee is headed for the playoffs and big things THIS year. Headed for even better in the future. I refuse to panic over any committed recruit visiting another school.

Have to go back to peak Fulmer for those days…which is approaching two decades. Last class had representative four stars a scant three season from NCAA violations program hell. Most promising prospect from that class is a 3 star…Perry. THAT is development. I’ve called out GE for his reliance on TRUST and tendency to delegate that to less talented players like Dayne Davis, but people? This is the OL coach Heupel is rolling with…it’s non-negotiable! These helpful hypotheticals and speculation are fun but ask yourself if you want Heupel being bought out and starting over is worth your investment in such.

Fact is, Elarbee has been "good enough" to get our OL in the position where we are 9-2 and on the verge of a playoff berth. But it's also true that we've had serious pass blocking and depth concerns for 2 years in a row, and it looks like it'll only be worse in 2025 losing Sprags, Mays, Campbell, Davis, and probably Karic.

And it's also true that we missed Mauigoa, Seaton, Utu, and arguably Perry. Guys that would make the current situation look a lot different. So losing Sanders would be a very, very, very bad look.

He's still committed for now, but it sounds like he wants a lopsided prenup.

You first, genius. Since ANY progress from their forced usage in a Covid shortened season is irrelevant to your think tank process. And you disregarded my other points in your zeal to bring back Pruitt’s best man at his wedding.

I don't think questioning OL goes hand-in-hand with indicting Heupel. Dayne Davis, and Ollie Lane last year, have driven me nuts. Campbell has had a really weird year. Heard might be getting better and could be the guy we need, but we need at least one other 1st round talent on the line to be able to win the whole thing.

Lampley as well. Potentially 6 of our top 7. I'm not even counting Heard being 100% to come back either. Hopefully, there's no drama there but you never know.

Swing and a miss. Reread your post. You said you could prove Friend couldn't get the same results by looking at Mays/Spraggins before and after Elarbee.

Mays and Spraggins become mainstays in a markedly different offense ONE SEASON removed and your smartazz is calling yourself brilliant Maintaining they weren’t coached and developed BETTER? That the hill?

He's Ohio State's unless they fumble a deal here at the end. Big time bummer
Idk. Maybe I’m wrong. I’ve seen him at a lot of games interacting with other players and their families. This feels like an attempt to get a better deal and/or secure a spot somewhere else in the portal if things don’t work out here. I could entirely be wrong though.

I've never disparaged Elarbee. I said he's replaceable. Our offense's rushing success is largely scheme-based and many other average div 1 line coaches could come in and continue that success. Swing. And. A. Miss.

I believe this scheme is very OL coach friendly, particularly in the running game. It gets you linebackers split wider, safeties too. You are pretty much guaranteed the numbers.

I'd argue a mediocre OL coach would have success in the run game. Pass blocking requires much more technique and good habits. This is where we have been very poor, particularly on the edges.

I’d say it’s about some of the details beyond the amount of money.

The fact that we’re in this position though is a product of not having a close enough relationship with certain people in my opinion.

I still think it works itself out but it’s obviously concerning.
Effing Glen Elarbee….

It’s a very Salty situation. It’s not all on the kid, and that’s a shame. I hate when “others” get involved. It’s a detriment to a young mans ethics as well.

For me it’s about having your word mean something. 100% should mean 100%
Speaking of “detriment”… what’s your opinion of Elarbee’s recruiting?

Heupel isn’t going to replace him. Take your base, DiMaggio.
