'19 NC RB Quavaris Crouch (Tennessee signee)

Only way to fix it is recruit like he is right now and develop those players. Results will follow and so will excitement. Simple as that. Best example is what rick Barnes has done.
it's a lot easier to build a basketball team in short order than a football team

Anyone else get the feeling that this offer was extended weeks ago, turned down and now the Mike Yurcich camp is putting this out there to lobby for the Ohio State job.
Plausible. Also, someone was obviously testing the waters with all the Sark chatter bouncing around at the same time. Always felt like Yurcich was playing for a raise. Seemed like his bluff might have been called on that. Now, the Ohio State thing makes it reappear with us being used for another purpose.

It’s true, the leagues aren’t the same, but we have to run something different than UGA and Alabama. We don’t have the athletes, and won’t have the athletes to beat them at their own game.
Good point. One thing about Yurich is he reportedly is very good at adapting his scheme to personnel at hand.

Wouldn't this be a switch from the pro-style back to a spread (or variation of spread) offense? Seems like this will set us further back after we have 2 recruiting classes set for the pro-style.

Pruitt has never uttered the words pro style. Just said we have to be bigger and wants to run. Can easily be spread and be those things too.

Ok I see what you mean there on sark. That I can see. Just cant see osu's oc. Too much difference in offensive schemes.

Different from what? So far this offseason, Pruitt spoke with Briles, Yurcich, and Briles's brother in law, Lebby, from UCF. He told a recruit he wants to run a lot of 3-4 wr sets. All signs point towards something a little unconventional.

Remember,,,, all these wonderful stats have come in the little 12, not the SEC.
That being said, the number of times we would get the ball per game, would either go down, because the other teams just wouldn't let us have it, and this would not allow us to run so many plays per game. It think it can be said that in the little 12 the dominant force is offense. In the SEC it defense or a balance of both sides of the ball.

Follow efficiency stats. Cmon man, it's 2018.

A concern might be with time of possession. We have seen what happens when our defense is on the field all game with a time management competitor. It can be a killer in the fourth quarter and we have no defensive depth. While your offense dances on the sidelines.

That would happen regardless. 3 n out with run run pass does it just as fast. It is on Pruitt's D to get off the field on 3rd down, like the pre-shoop defense excelled.

And with even a bit of DL depth, it's a moot point. Data shows ToP doesnt affect defensive performance.

????
I hope what you are asking what do my comments mean as it relates to us hiring him.

All I am saying is these great numbers are coming from a defenseless (for the most past) league. Unless we can come up with an unbelievable "lock down" defense, it will be hard to put up numbers like this guys has been able to post.

Yeah? Compare avg yards league to league. iirc b12 was like 15-20 yards above sec.

OU shredded UGA last year and just put up 470 yards on #1 SEC defense. Lowly Baylor shredded a respectable Vandy D. Maybe, just maybe, that league has great offenses because they INNOVATE.

While I could be wrong and probably am, I've just assumed Pruitt has had his man all along. A little surprised that we've just now offered someone the job, then again maybe I'm not.

All the previous was just in case you were being serious. That out of the way, we’re basically in lock step with the rest. It all works til it don’t.
I was gonna say you cant possibly think I was serious, but with the amount of dim bulbs on VN I guess you never know.
@peaygolf ;).
My bottom line take to all those demanding we hire a "proven OC " that can be successful in the SEC, is where are they at? Any OC we get or Pruitt for that matter is a crapshoot and you try to mitigate the risk by at least getting someone who has been successful in a P5 conf. A guy has to want to be in Knoxville and if Sark or OCMY want to be here thenIm good with it. Money isn't the end all for some guys, they are happy with where they are at... Brett Venables and Bud Foster probably couldn't be hired to be DCs somewhere else for 3 Million per. Some other event would have to change ( fallout with current coach, wanting to scale back or whatever). Maybe OCMY is ready for a different challenge ie not under Gundy.

I hope he does have someone however I'm not convinced Mike Yurcich is the guy. The timing makes zero sense for him to come to UT at this point but the timing of this report makes sense for him lobbying for the Ohio state job

That would be great but seems like a pipe dream. It will be difficult to equal their recruiting and nearly impossible to exceed it. I don’t think we can beat them running a similar system with inferior talent.

We can't. We need competitive advantages. If you want to see failure at running the same system with even a bit less talent (still well above ours), look at LSU banging their heads against the wall the past decade. They have elite talent, but cant realize they should just replicate OU's offense. M-o-r-o-n-s. No, just lose to Bama 0-29. Plain stubborn that place.
