NCAA Baseball Postseason Thread

Why did ESPN think it was appropriate to schedule the LSU-State game for 8:00 CST start? Even without the rain delay that's a fairly late start and now here we are at 10:15 CST in the 3rd inning. This game will end close to midnight local time at the rate it's going.

They wanted plenty of drunks there

I'm not sure Rogers can be trusted at this point. He all but had O'Sullivan signed to TX last season.

"Will have hot board on the @Texas_Baseball news. Texas has one primary target in mind, and it’s an elite. And they will get him IMO. #HookEm"

Rogers tweet regarding O'Sullivan last May.

Rogers tweet after O'Sullivan spurned TX

"Kevin O’Sullivan is going to be at Florida for a very very long time. That’s all I will say for now."

The dude throws $hit at the wall hoping it sticks. He's rarely right considering he runs one of the premiere college baseball sites in the country.

He is bad regarding just about every coaching situation out there, not just O'Sullivan.

Aaron Fitt needs to reel him in.

Ben breazeale just hit another hr!!!

Game winning walk off. Glad we didn't recruit him.....geeeesh

In fairness he was a career .245 hitter until this year.

Speaking of that, the batting avg for multiple Wake players jumped exponentially this year. It borders on alarming to see the stat increases.

Mueller up .105
Aiello up .100
Steele up .104 from 2015 (didn't play in 2016)
Breazeale up .093

The HR's too. Guys are jumping 10-12 HR from one year to the next.

The juice is good there.

Oregon State is very, very good. I do agree that their schedule is suspect and their record would look very different if they played in the SEC.

They kind of remind me of the 2013 Vanderbilt team that went 26-3 in the SEC, looked nearly unbeatable, but then ran into a buzz saw in the super regional that year against Louisville. Vandy was more than talented enough to win, but Louisville got excellent pitching at just the right time and won the series in two games.

Vandy has two guys that are capable of that kind of performance on a given weekend. The other thing the Dores have going for them is that they won't be intimidated. The juniors have been to Omaha and all the way through the title series. The seniors have done that twice and have a ring as well. I don't think the stage will be too big for them.

The new hitting lineup is clicking and the pitching depth has finally come around a little bit beyond the first two starters.

On the other side of the coin, this team has lacked a killer instinct this season. We didn't sweep anyone all year and failed to put games away. That absolutely can't happen against Oregon State. If they beat you straight up that's one thing, but Vandy can't let them off the mat if they have an opportunity to put it away.

I think this is the most interesting matchup of all the super regionals, with the possible exception of Louisville vs. UK just from the in-state atmosphere perspective.

That Tennessee Tech game...Not impressive.

How ironic--we almost swept florida at florida, surely our best series of the season, not that I followed the season much after it was clear that we'd be bad again.

BREAKING: UMICH to offer free tuition to any in-state Michigan student with family income under $65,000

http://www.freep.com/story/news/loc...5/university-michigan-free-tuition/401879001/

Will be curious to see how much of a recruiting advantage this is if any for them. $65,000 for a family is low particularly for players that are most likely incurring the cost of travel ball. Could potentially have a much bigger impact on other sports such as football and basketball that have a much larger urban demographic

Doesn't matter in football or hoops

Not to the individual players per say but it does to the programs if you can now essentially bring in a player from say Detroit and not have to use an athletic scholarship that is a significant advantage to work around the numbers

I believe it's for in state kids only.

Yeah, I get that. That is why I used Detroit as an example. If you could float some of your instate players through without having to use a scholarship then it would allow you to use more of those on out of state players. Granted they could not be recruited or they would have to be give a scholarship but it essentially follows a similar thing of what we have done in football with some instate players in particular

Can't use it as it is only Tuition. Football and hoops pays all of it plus cash for cost of attendance
