Am I missing something? Ferrall(CBS sports guy with raspy voice) said that he has heard that Strong and Richt both want the Miami job. I also read that Franklin is interested..is this uni or agent talk to build up the program? He also said that Richt is gone this year and that Miami wants someone with ties to program(former player or coach) So would that mean Cristobal or Richt are the leaders?
Not Chip but I really could see a scenario where CMR leaves UGA and lands at UM.
A few of their insiders state Richt, Cristabol, Strong and Davis are the names that have the most legs.
Strong is looking at maybe another 2-3 losses. If he goes 5-7, 4-8, he's a goner.
But he won't stay unemployed for long.
IF Tx comes open things will get interesting very quickly.
Jimbo Fisher, Herman and Fuente would probably top their list.
Herman and Fuente both have B12 and Tx ties but would their BOT want another upstart.
Strong being available could pit UM and SC in a bidding war.
USC is going to hire a SC guy unless Chip Kelly wants in. Rumor that Clay Helton may end up being there guy.
If Jan is silly season for recruiting this offseason coaching search will be insane.

I cannot in any remote way envision Richt and Miami being a good fit. If you go back to Miami's hey day, its not because of the fine institution it is (it isn't), or their deep and loyal alumni (they have very little of that). Its swagger. Its being able to recruit lights out from the communities where athletes abound and want to show off in an environment of virtually no accountability.
And their coaches, when they were good, if they didn't exactly match that swagger and attitude, they at at least promoted it. Schnellenberger and Jimmy Johnson more than tolerated criminality and a sense of being out of control. They welcomed it.
Richt is the exact opposite of what made Miami great under the only circumstances where it can ever be great, again. You might as well put Tebow in charge of an all prison team. Sure, you'll get a few fake converts, but in the end the personality of the coach of the Miami Hurricanes has to at some level reflect what that renegade program has to be about, and that ain't Mark Richt.
Would be an abysmal failure.
Could this be what's ahead?
