Need a New OC/Spread Sucks

A head coach changing his system for one year while he recruits his players is career suicide IMO. You must immediately begin to imprint your philosophy.

Agreed. You only have 3 years in most places. And even less if you have a terrible second season. If you go down, you go down you're way.

so if we're going to change the OC because the OP doesn't want to run the spread, who's going to tell Butch that he doesn't get to run the spread? I'm fairly certain that's more his call than who he has as his OC.

Please try reading at least some of the thread before posting.

How does Foley hire a DC (who went 5-7 his has year at Texas) who announces he's going to install Phil Fulmer's offense in the home of Fun & Gun?

Priceless.

Disagree

Urban adapted his system the first year at Florida with Leak then went all in with Tebow. He did just fine

On the other hand Rich Rod was stubborn with his system at Michigan and got fired

No he didnt. CUM ran his system with Chris Leak. He even won a NC with him.

Mizzou's pro style offense works awesome too. They do it with roster full of 2* and 3* players

Walkons, half stars and NAIA players.... I don't give 2 Shiites what their "star ratings" are, that's a very fast and talented team.

I think the thread title is sarcasm.

The spread works great when you have a QB who can make passes to his own teammates..and teammates who can actually catch said passes.

A lot of the people saying we should go back to a pro style offense are probably some of the same ones that were saying we should go to a read option spread offense when we ran a pro style.

Auburn just wanted to remind everyone that the spread offense doesn't work in the SEC, and that we need a pro style quarterback so we can run the I formation.

O and Nick Saban loves going against spread teams! He eats them for dinner!

And yes, I did start drinking before noon. Go vols!

all offenses suck when you cant complete a pass . We dont have a QB . This is no knock on Dobbs ...he is going to be good one day ...but right now he is off the mark.

you cant scheme around this ...he must be developed

Auburn does fine without completing passes. But I like the current scheme and staff. We just need someone to complete a pass to.

I have Malzahn installs from Tulsa and Auburn with Newton. Nothing he does is revolutionary. All of his pass concepts predate him or are borrowed from someone else. His strength like others is his how the pieces of his system compliment another. Outstandingly organized, and he reps the hell out of his concepts. Neat board system that CBJ copied verbatim. People need to look beyond the picture and realize that a good coordinator finds ways to win with whatever talent they have. There isn't a best offense and never will be. These offenses that seem to be far apart on paper in actuality aren't all that different on the spectrum.

We are probably not far off in thinking. I'm not saying never adapt anything to your players. Adaptations are different than philosophical changes in my mind.

You should def send those my way. and from what I've seen, you're right. He likes power. He likes jet. He likes power read. Everything I've seen him do has been basic but well schemed.

What? Dude you haven't been watching football at all. Saban D struggles against the spread.

Please actually watch the game and not the highlights.

that's too boring. I read a lot of it though. Try doing your own thing instead of telling others what to do.

You tell him volfanbill!!! It is completely your right (and you take full advantage of it) to post only being partially informed on the topic.
