Netflix password sharing

Believe their stock is down 30%. It took that for them to care about password sharing? If so, a little shortsighted. Also looking at lower fee subscription with ads.

This is the deal. Gas and everything is thru the roof. You are the first on the chopping block with family budgets.
I dropped them. Netflix has some value to me but not enough to withstand their subscription price going up. I have to cut costs for a lot of different reasons including those you mentioned.

Your original statement said FBI.

So, again, please provide examples of the FBI. Finding YouTube clips of small town PD’s is a lazy goal post move.

No. I said LEOs in the post that you quoted. YOU are moving the goal posts.

The FBI has better things to do than kicking in cheggarboards door anyway. Like going after Obama’s targets. But this isn’t the Political Forum, so I’ll leave it at that.

Thank you for admitting your original statement was dumb.

Although that assumption seems intuitive, I don't think it is valid.

I have a subscription. I share with my sister. My sister would not be able to afford it by herself and I do not use it enough to justify the price (the value for me is my minimal use + subsidizing my sister). Thus, they would lose my subscription for password sharing without gaining back business from either myself (alone) or my sister (alone). Instead of having one subscription for two households, Netflix ends up with zero subscriptions from two potential customers.

Then they can (and should) sell the plans based on the number of devices. Apparently there are a **** ton of users that aren’t capable of complying with their agreements under the honor system.

You’re not real bright if you believed that I was seriously suggesting that the FBI would be knocking on cheggars door at 3am.

I didn’t think you were seriously suggesting sharing Netflix passwords was a big deal, but here we are on page 10 and you’re still saying dumb things.

I’ll save myself the trouble of responding any further, it’s pretty embarrassing I’ve spent this much time on this has I already have.

There are still coming out way ahead with a customer/"thief" like me. Only two devices use Netflix off my subscription.

A large family consisting of several children, which naturally have more budget constraints than my yuppie ass, might have many devices which stream but would be unwilling to pay a premium per device.

Stealing is a big deal. Even if it is a service rather than tangible items. It’s sad that some are so argumentative that it’s not theft of services in their own situations. One of the Ten Commandments is even “Thou shalt not steal”.

Netflix management hasn’t really cared. Wall Street was pricing the company at about $1,500/subscriber. So those not paying for their usage in the past can argue that Netflix was allowing it by ignoring it. Going forward, if they continue not paying for their usage, then it really is dishonest. And valuations are now down to about $500/sub.

I've already tried this one with him- that not everyone that gets booted will suddenly turn around and get an account. That's a reality that has borne out in other kinds of services just like this. He said I was insulting and making things up.

Newsflash: I don't give a crap if you stream Netflix. In fact, if you're not paying for it, then I PREFER that you don't stream Netflix. You're adding to their costs while giving zero revenue. Then, Netflix has to increase the monthly fee to people that actually don't steal their service, like me. I'm sick of subsidizing everybody else.
Sorry, what costs are involved if a person who would never pay to subscribe watches NFLX content?

Yes. I said that you are insulting. Here are examples that you’ve launched at me.

You're the one arguing that everyone that gets cut off will go out and buy a subscription, which is laughable.

And, again, apparently you don't grasp the fundamental economic/market information I also shared.

you'd stop paying, or else you're some kind of weirdo.

He’s a martyr for keeping Netflix prices from sky rocketing.
I guess. It's very odd.

there's a market and economics discussion that I guess you aren't capable of following.

It's also not an insult to say you've got clouded judgment, which is very clear here.

and if you're going to run this line, you'll be alone. It's silly.

you're making a significant and relatively ignorant leap that the ones "stealing" are interested in paying for the service at all.

which itself is meaningless babble

This is an insane take.

the end this is all a horrible take

I'm trying to talk to someone that's disconnected from reality

Where's the insult? None of them are false. Your whole argument here has been silly, disconnected from reality, etc. It's simple truth.

PS: and none of these are like bearing false witness against people by calling them thieves and stealers.

If Netflix allows X number of devices to connect per subscriber and have taken that into account then they are losing money for other reasons.

You don’t know what insult means.

You don’t understand what theft is.

You probably don’t understand what denial is either.

i was gonna say the same thing. Sounds like he/she is extremely butthurt because they just lost a ton of money due to their stock taking a nose dive

I’ve said multiple times that I’ve not had a loss. I don’t own shares. I have worked in the business though and understand that theft doesn’t have to be a tangible item. China steals IP. They don’t stick it on a boat to take it home.

I don’t like thieves.

Netflix price increases are necessary to cover their loss of customers since they became a WOKE corporation. I canceled my subscription because I don't want my children indoctrinated with their propaganda. What happened to being a platform for streaming old movies?

They’d lose far less if everybody using their service would pay for it instead of steal it.

Actually NFLX is profitable. The shareholders that bought at the top have been losing money. The current multiple is attractive.
