New Arizona Immigration Law

great. i'm going to set one up on 5th and alvarado in los angeles and deport millions.

They actually set up random check points in Nashville a while back and after a large percentage of hispanics were arrested for DUI the usual suspects chimed in claiming these DUI check points were targeting Hispanics because there was such a high percentage caught and arrested. I mean duh, the check point was a heavily traveled main rd in the middle of an area densely populated by Hispanics.

And before cash claims they put them there strictly for Hispanics I would point out that Nolensville Rd had often been a rd selected for DUI check points for 15 plus years.

Ahhh, Nolensville Rd....a "We Tote the Note" lot on every corner.

If you break the law, you break the law... That's not my issue.... At a check point, EVERYBODY who passes through that road gets checked. Seems fair enough to me. I was stopped at one for having an expired tag in Blount County.

The illegals are all breaking our laws.

Question I have never understood -

Why would LEGAL Hispanics not actually try to help curb illegal immigration? It seems to me that would make their lives easier from the profiling standpoint. That, plus, maybe it's just my mindset but it pisses me off when I work for something and someone basically bypasses the system and gets equal or not better treatment. In most cases there is little you can do, and it would seem like this is one where it could be done.

I think that we can work with this. Might I suggest the locations for the first four checkpoints?

1. Any place where illegal immigrants are protesting for amnesty.

2. At any place of business with a construction permit.

3. Wal-Mart checkout counters.

4. Any Western Union depot. (How do you think that money gets back to the ilegals homeland in Norway or Denmark or Mexico?)

The whole problem would be a non-issue in about 6 weeks.

Because liberals already have 80% of the Hispanic American vote.

It's the same reason that you don't try to re-catch fish you've already got in the boat.

Why is antelope protection more important than protecting American lives?

On March 27, the consequences of a porous and unprotected border claimed the life of Arizona rancher Robert Krentz after he radioed his brother that he was checking out someone he believed to be an illegal immigrant.

Incredibly, his murderer escaped to a pronghorn antelope area that the Interior Department of Secretary Ken Salazar had placed off-limits to U.S. Border Patrol agents.

So unserious is the administration about protecting the border that it has allowed a bureaucratic turf battle between Interior and Homeland Security to let 4.3 million acres of wilderness area become a haven and highway for illegal aliens, drug smugglers, human traffickers and potential terrorists.

The legal immigrants I have talked to are in favor of curbing the illegal flow. The leaders of Hispanic groups want as many as possible in the states for the next round of amnesty.

Question for those involved in this discussion. I was talking to a family member who is involved in border security, currently in Texas who was telling me the problem has gotten much worse, particularly bad in certain areas, over the last two years. He tells me they are convinced their are rogue elements of Mexican military as well as heavily armed paramilitary groups assisting the cartels and human smuggling rings. He told me stories of ranch owners who have sent their families away to safer ground, ranchers investing in surveilance equipment because these guys are scared for their lives, their animals and pets are killed, fences destroyed, land is trashed and their lives are threatened.

He says the people charged with securing the border do not have the training or weapons to take on these cartels and mercenaries. He believes the only thing that will put this to an end is the military. I know why we are reluctant to send the military to our borders but do you think the time has come? Break the cartels hold on these smuggling corridors and some of this crime we see in Arizona goes away with it.

If there is really this big a problem, then yes, troops should be used.

Admittedly he was telling me the worst of the worst cases. There are other areas where things are normal and peaceful, the problem is when you shut down one corridor they simply move to another area and set up there.

it's ridiculous and absolutely dangerous. The Dems don't want to take this on and alienate a key voting block (see Obama's message yesterday). The ranchers are either going to get fed up and move or they will band together and defend themselves. Neither choice will turn out well for AZ. The border patrol is out-manned, out-gunned and over-regulated on how they can attack the issues

the only rogue military from Mexico are the ones still doing their actual jobs. Corruption is the accepted way down there

What exactly is dangerous, just want to make sure I understand what you are speaking about specifically.

That could get ugly, but it could also turn out well for the country in the long run.

Even if this does happen it won't last long, they will be ripped apart by the media and drug through our court system and made examples out of.

If anyone can think of a better use for troops than to defend our borders from armed incursion I'd like to hear it. In fact, if US citizens are in fear for their lives and livelihoods from people from another country crossing our borders our country has already miserably failed them and if it takes tanks and gunships to keep them safe then so be it. These are our countrymen on our soil, right?
