New Arizona Immigration Law

i'll give you one difference. legal citizens have no problem showing their ID. legal citizens don't go out of their way to not get noticed by the police (like not turning on reds).
I disagree... I have a huge problem showing my ID to a cop when I've done nothing wrong. In fact, there's laws in place to where you don't have to show your ID if you don't feel like it.

but that's how it reads and is all there is to go on. Didn't you point out in another thread that someone was making assumptions that just aren't there? Yeah, you're doing it too
you're right... people on both sides do this when a bill comes out... Myself isn't excluded.

and you should realize that people in AZ know it is more difficult to "profile a Hispanic" than you think. It's not like the movies

that's pretty much my point... It's hard to tell who's legal and who isn't based on looks and actions of an individual

you've never had to show your id to a cop when you've done nothing wrong? and when this happened what negative effect did it have on your life?

no my point is it's also difficult to just tell who is Hispanic based on looks. They're not just looking for only brown people like you seem to imply

Nvm, reread what you said.
Ummmm, you don't have to show your I.D. if you don't want to... Are there consequences in certain situations if you don't, sure.... But if a cop just randomly comes up to you and asks for your ID, you can pretty much laugh in their face

never had too, because I don't do much wrong to begin with....... and secondly, I know the law. if a cop came up to me and asked for my ID, they wouldn't get it from me.

People will start to sing a different tune if the police start asking white people to produce papers.

i show my id every time i go to work, every time i fly, everytime i go to a bar with a bouncer, everytime i rent a car, many times when i use my credit card, etc etc etc

not this crap again... those are all situations where EVERYBODY has to do it... BIG difference

again, that's the concern... it's hard to tell ANYTHING based on looks

so you seriously think they're going to start asking everyone they see for an ID? That's the only way the world you're describing will ever work

i'm saying only have people who do something wrong prove they're here legally. that goes for every race, though, and not one suspected to be latino

And the bill expressly states that they cannot do this based solely on looks. So what remains the issue?
because bills always go as written....

a LEGAL hispanic will have to have documentation on their persons at all times now to prove their legality. Someobdy else who's legal of another race won't have to go through that, and you know it. and that's where the potential problem arises.

I understand that. Like my post said, I misread what you wrote and didn't realize you were limiting your statement only to situations where a person was doing nothing illegal.
