New Arizona Immigration Law

Just to put Cash Vallin's fears at ease, Arizona lawmakers have removed “lawful contact” from the bill and replaced it with “lawful stop, detention or arrest.” [Formerly, citizenship questioning could only be made after "lawful contact."] In an explanatory note, lawmakers added that the change “stipulates that a lawful stop, detention or arrest must be in the enforcement of any other law or ordinance of a county, city or town or this state.” Seems to further move away from any potential profiling.

And done. They'll get some lower-level federal judge to issue an injunction before the law becomes effective, for sure, but good luck getting John Roberts court to strike it now.

that's not the point. LEGAL american citizens are going to unrightly questioned with this system. don't worry, you won't be profiled

I have no clue what the solution is to illegal immigration, but profiling LEGAL citizens aint it.

I will refrain from name calling because I am a cool cat.

If you have ever traveled anywhere in your life you have been questioned about something somewhere somehow.

It is the year 2010. Do you remember 9-11-01?

Unfortunately it has come to this. I wish it hadn't but it has.
Deal in reality not your text book utopia some 1960's radical anti American taught you in the 6th grade.

In two words: grow up!

Exactly.

Arizona's problem is gonna start moving to other states that may already have some of the same issues, that will be multiplied now.

Their state governments will be forced by their legal citizens to deal with it just like Arizona did. Deal with it, or find a new job. Arizona dealt with it.

I think California is where they will herd to.
I think Texas may be the next to bring forth the law.

So with the new changes, is there anyway this still gets shot down?

Yea. It could still be found to be a violation of the supremacy clause of the constitution. But, that would be unlikely, as it would require a showing that the arizona law conflicts with federal law. I have a hard time believing they can do that.

Sad day id it did get shot down...
then the gov't would have no reason to try and secure the borders

The Federal government has made no real efforts to fix the problem in the past. And that would be by enforcing its own law.

IMO the "right" (politically) is scared of the issue, as far as doing anything about it (nationally). The "left" embraces an opportunity to secure a future voting base (legal, or not). Thus the reason why the "left" will attempt to block any laws (including state) that will hinder future votes.

I've never lived in Arizona, but I've visited Nogales AZ on many occasions. It's pretty much a slow rolling invasion down there. Something has to be done. The Feds are not protecting our citizens. I hope Texas follows up with their own version of the AZ law.

Frankly, I believe the Dems think every illegal alien is another potential vote for them.

I work with illegal immigrants from time to time and when illegal immigrants try to kill themselves or become psychotic I can evaluate them, communicate as best I can and then attempt to place them in an appropriate facility. Sadly these people come from such horribly impoverished conditions that our jails and/or state mental health facilities are comparable to the Ritz. It's not like these people are just walking down the street. I feel like it will be random for the most part, however, most of the illegals I work with were doing something illegal that got them caught. Generally speaking cops don't have to look too far to bust an idiot no matter what their race. Illegals trying to do the right thing and recognize how great this country is want to get their papers in order, not go out drunk driving or break the law in some other way.

FOXNews.com - Clinton Says Arizona Immigration Law Invites Racial Profiling

Clinton said the law was "clearly a result of frustration" in the state over the difficulty of securing the border and stopping the flow of illegal immigration. But she said immigration law enforcement is the purview of the federal government, not the states, and condemned the policy itself as flawed.

Frustration? Really? Frustration is when your cable goes off, you have a flat tire, or maybe 5 o'clock traffic.

If this statement doesn't scream "The federal government does not care about illegal immigration, and all that comes with it". Im not sure what does.

I watched this today and all I can say is "frustration" is a gross understatement.

To her, and many politicians (even a few on the right) the frustration is having a "FEDERAL LAW" that they don't want to enforce. Its a political frustration for them. Not a right or wrong frustration.

Here's the corner I feel backed into... People like me feel like a large wave of deportation is in order, however, since I'm gonna be forced to accept millions of illegals in my country where I live free and legal, the least I should except is for people to speak American (English, just kidding) and for me to be able to bear arms and defend myself, my family and my property however I see fit. It's just not fair. Like I was saying, the illegals I work with have ZERO payment for the hospitals or facilities I place them. They get the same treatment everywhere only they don't have to pay for it. It's crap.

I totally agree.

What the border states deal with more than others is the violence, and murder of its citizens at the hands of these illegals. I compare it to domestic terrorism. No state, or federal government should hinder AZ or any other border state from protecting its citizens. Period.

The social benefits received (free, and illegal), are a whole other problem in itself.

Well Arizona's got the law on the books now.
They just have to ride out these few weeks with the rallies, and media hyping it.
Then get down to the enforcement.

Then other states will see the benefits and follow suit..

Wait... It says he was released? Listening to liberals, I assumed he would have been sent to Auschwitz.
