New Arizona Immigration Law

A representative at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) returned 3TV’s calls after researching the incident and she said this was standard operating procedure.

The agents needed to verify Abdon was in the country legally and it is not uncommon to ask for someone's birth certificate. She also said this has nothing to do with the proposed bill or racial profiling.
also from the story that your vid left out. And the comparison to nazi's is getting old

ohhhh, i get it... since it's standard operating procedure, this makes it OK???

thanks for clearing up the confusion. legal hispanics have a higher standard to prove when it comes to their legality of being in this country.. sure glad i'm never gonna have that problem.

Ain't that a relief.

it's amazing how i said two things would happen with this bill have already occurred.

lawsuits? check

LEGAL citizens going to jail with a simple traffic stop? check

it's just gonna get worse my conservative friends... wall street collapses despite conservatives saying the economy was strong... drill baby drill with new technology (whoops, oil spill in the gulf), LEGAL citizens being profiled (wait, that wasn't in the bill... that aint gonna happen)... this stuff is just too good... keep burying yourself a hole.

and then go to jail if said ID is deemed not to be good enough

Ever traveled internationally and returned to the US. You have to show ID to prove you are a US citizen and are legally re-entering the country. Is this also a problem, since you are in effect having to prove your citizenship?

If so, my rights have been violated multiple times.

What's even more incredible about your last claim is that the law won't even go into effect for a few more months. Wow!

the law states that ANY valid form of state, federal, and local ID can be used to prove legality. can't say i'm going to shed tears for the guy who get's put in jail because he is driving without a license.

he had a license.. police then deemed it not good enough... but that's not in the bill. that can't happen

who says he had a license? and in case you havent' noticed the department of justice is investigating this incident.

if the police arrest someone with a valid license WHEN THE NEW LAW IS IN EFFECT than THE POLICE will be violating the law and i expect there will be appropriate consequences.

I bet you excelled in histrionics, hyperbole, and illogic at whatever institute of higher learning you attended.

yeah, just similar laws....... use your head, it will help you

This is apples and oranges. If this guy was arrested for simply not being able to provide proper proof of citizenship, the police were wrong in doing so because that law doesn't exist yet. If this guy actually had proof of citizenship/residency with a driver's license and the police detained him anyway, then the police are doubly wrong in that they didn't follow this new law correctly, which wasn't even in effect yet anyway.

Either way, it's a screw-up with law enforcement, not the law. Sorry.

That doesn't make him a legal citizen. There are plenty of them in your county that are illegal with driver's license.

Course the Feds may look at that, as there amnesty card.

we obviously need to stop arresting people for any crime because of the 1/100000 that end up being innocent.

but by the law, that will be enough to keep them out of trouble.
